Student answer (Band 5.0)

Enough homes in big cities is such a diverse challenge.Tall apartments can make it effortless. Let's talk on it.Well making tall buildings is a effective way to provide enough homes in big cities. Due to the fact that there is a huge number of citizens living in big cities then surely it is very fundome for them to have enough homes. The main concern is that citizens who are rich use other individuals home space to make their factories, hospitals and various industries. In this way these establishments made less space for others to make a home for them.Well Tall Apartments can solve the problem of enough homes in big cities as by making Tall Apartments many individuals find enough space for their living. I agree with this statement that Tall buildings can resolve the issue if having enough homes in big cities because There are many flats or distinct rooms in Tall buildings in this way many people can comfortably live there. But I also disagree in the way that by establishing tooo much large Apartment blocks it can pressurized citizens for high rents of electricity sanitary and other essentials and also that no one will have their own home. But if we talk in more detailed way I would prefer making Tall apartment blocks because it prove to be very convinent for citizens who has not have their own homes for living. From my perspective I believe that Tall Apartments should be made and also there should be enough homes for citizens in big cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. The argument regarding why rich citizens use space for factories is unclear and lacks logical connection to the main topic of housing. While a position is stated, the reasoning is underdeveloped and lacks specific examples or real-world evidence to support the claims. The essay tends to over-generalize, and the conclusion does not effectively synthesize the arguments presented, resulting in a response that only partially addresses the complexity of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. It is written as a single block of text rather than using appropriate paragraphing to separate the introduction, body arguments, and conclusion. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inappropriate, such as the repetitive use of 'Well' and 'But' to start sentences. The progression of ideas is difficult to follow because the transitions between the benefits of tall buildings and the drawbacks are abrupt. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to track the writer's line of reasoning throughout the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying on simple terms like 'big', 'enough', and 'home'. There are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard phrasing, such as 'fundome' (likely meant 'fundamental'), 'pressurized citizens', and 'sanitary' (used incorrectly in the context of utility costs). The range of vocabulary is limited, and the student struggles to express complex ideas with precision. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of variety and the frequent misuse of words prevent the response from reaching a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('citizens who has not have'), incorrect verb forms, and missing articles. Punctuation is also problematic, with run-on sentences and inconsistent capitalization. While some attempts at complex sentences are made, they are often faulty and contain errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. The control over basic grammar is inconsistent, and the lack of complex structures limits the range demonstrated.
