Student answer (Band 5.5)

Building big apartment blocks is the good process to supply residence in big cities.

I agree with this term as it is beneficial for saving land and also in enhancement or development of the city .

If we talk about saving land by developing this idea this will be the best way because as the time passes the lands are becoming expensive over and over. It is becoming a big problem for the families to purchase land first and then build their houses on them it makes their expense double . Large cities have limited land and building vertically allows many families to live in small area so that they can have an inexpensive land.

If I talk about enhancement of cities so it's a good idea by replacing old and urban houses by big and comforting apartments that meet people needs. As tall apartments also make your city looked developed . It's also a sign that this city is high on their technical and advance ideas. For Example : If we talk about Pakistan than it is on of the high developed country but it's cities are not developed like they should be but one of it's city Lahore is now enhanced with tall buildings that made it look more developed and established rather than it's other cities because of that big big buildings so in that view if we also look in apartment construction it will make your city look established.

In conclusion, building tall apartments is one of the best solutions for our city development and for saving the last and making more asset for the people who can't afford expensive lands.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention land scarcity and urban aesthetics, the arguments remain somewhat superficial and repetitive. For example, the point about 'saving land' is mentioned in the introduction and then restated in the body without significant expansion or depth. The example provided regarding Lahore is relevant but lacks sufficient detail to fully support the argument. To improve, you should aim to provide more nuanced reasoning, perhaps by discussing the social or economic implications of high-density living beyond just the cost of land.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive. Phrases like 'If we talk about' are used as a crutch to introduce new points, which makes the flow feel unnatural. Additionally, some transitions between sentences are abrupt, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the transition into the example about Pakistan. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the logical progression of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You rely on simple, repetitive adjectives like 'big' and 'good'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'this term' (instead of 'this statement') and 'high on their technical and advance ideas'. Some phrasing is awkward, such as 'making more asset'. To improve, you should focus on using more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition and to express your ideas with greater sophistication.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'it's cities are not developed'), incorrect article usage, and awkward sentence construction (e.g., 'it makes their expense double'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and colons. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of English syntax and sentence variety.
