Student answer (Band 6.0)

It has been observed that, providing sufficient homes to people is challenging in this decade. Although, some people believe that rising tall apartment blocks in greater cities is good way to provide homes to people. I agree the given statement to large extent. My inclination is elaborated in ensuring paragraph and relevant examples.

The foremost argument to justify statement is that people who doesn't had their own house and live on footpath should able to get their personal home so that they can also participate in the society which made easier for them to contribute in country. For instance, they would unlocked to live good life by getting their home. Besides this, it is also that they could get jobs in city rather than in rural area.

Furthermore, the reason to prove my point is that building tall apartments is best idea because by this more individuals could lived there without facing rush. In addition, the fact that big appartments had enough space for their residence. By building these apartments we could get both profits by economically and culturally.

On the contrary, some people counter claim the mentioned support as they thought that it could be harmful for city. They claimed that it might destroy useful area of manufacturing factories or any other. But it is not acceptable because large cities had enough area so some can be converted to residental one.

To conclude, there are both merits and demerits of building apartments. However, I believe that advantages are more because it can enhance the cities development and profit the society in the economic sector.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For example, the argument regarding people living on footpaths is a bit simplistic and lacks a logical connection to the specific solution of 'tall apartment blocks'. While the essay covers the main points, the supporting arguments are not fully extended, and the reasoning remains superficial. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete examples or deeper analysis of why high-rise living is the most effective solution compared to other urban planning strategies.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore' and 'On the contrary' to link your points. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'My inclination is elaborated in ensuring paragraph'. Additionally, some sentences lack smooth transitions, making the flow feel a bit disjointed. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the relationship between sentences is more natural and precise.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is quite limited and repetitive. You use basic terms like 'good way', 'best idea', and 'big appartments' (note the spelling error). There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'rising tall apartment blocks' instead of 'constructing' or 'erecting', and 'profit the society' instead of 'benefit society'. To achieve a higher score, you need to incorporate a more sophisticated range of vocabulary and demonstrate better control over word formation and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'people who doesn't had their own house' and 'big appartments had enough space'. There are also errors in tense and article usage, such as 'by economically and culturally' and 'in ensuring paragraph'. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tenses.
