Student answer (Band 6.0)

In the current era, the population growth is increasing significantly. To accommodate them as much as possible, building high-rise apartments is one of the key solutions. I do agree with this statement to provide shelter as much as possible in urban areas because skyscrapers can save enough land-space and it is the best possible way to accommodate more families.

As the population is increasing rapidly, every individual needs a better future and financial support. To accomplish more opportunities and the best possible facilities, they intend to move to large cities. Because of this trend, cities are becoming more condensed. Building high-density residential buildings can lead us to occupy less land space and maintain enough green space as well. Furthermore, it could be the best possible way to sustain the beauty and infrastructure of the residential area as well. For instance, an area named Hostel City, in the capital of Pakistan, builds as many high-density buildings as possible to sustain the beautification and space land of the location.

Moreover, as population grows, they need more shelter to accommodate them, which increases demand for building more houses. A multistorey building, consisting of small apartments, could have the capacity to provide shelter to a large number of people or families. Instead of building more spacious residential apartments, high-density buildings can adopt more families. To take an example, in Islamabad, more than 10,000 families have been accommodated in two- or three-skyscrapers. This means high-rise buildings are one of the best ways to accommodate families.

In a nutshell, building enough high-rise apartments can preserve the land space and greenery as well as provide enough shelter to more brood. I do agree that it could be the ideal way to build more high-density buildings.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt clearly, maintaining a consistent position throughout. The arguments regarding land preservation and high-density accommodation are relevant and supported by examples. However, the development is somewhat repetitive; the points about 'accommodating families' and 'saving land' are restated in the second and third paragraphs without significant new depth. To reach a higher band, you should explore counter-arguments or discuss the potential drawbacks of high-rise living (e.g., social isolation or infrastructure strain) to provide a more balanced and nuanced discussion. The conclusion effectively summarizes your stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme. You use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'In a nutshell' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive (e.g., the frequent use of 'accommodate'). The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the link between the example of 'Hostel City' and the broader argument could be more explicitly stated to improve the flow of logic.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'high-density', 'infrastructure', and 'condensed'. However, there are some instances of imprecise word choice or awkward phrasing, such as 'space land' instead of 'land use' or 'more brood' which is an incorrect usage of the word. The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the sophistication or precision required for higher bands. Focusing on collocations and more academic synonyms for common verbs like 'build' or 'need' would enhance your lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are recurring grammatical errors, such as 'the population growth is increasing' (redundant), 'the capital of Pakistan, builds as many...' (incorrect comma usage), and 'provide shelter to more brood' (incorrect noun usage). You have a good grasp of basic sentence construction, but more variety in complex structures and better attention to subject-verb agreement and article usage would improve your accuracy. The errors present do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score.
