Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 184 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, which remain superficial and under-developed. While the student attempts to state a position, the arguments regarding 'tourism' and 'loans' are not clearly linked to the prompt about tall apartment blocks as a solution for urban housing. The ideas lack depth and logical support, and the conclusion is repetitive rather than summarizing the main points. Because the response is significantly under-length and the ideas are not fully extended, it falls into the lower band range.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is weak. Transitions such as 'To commence with' and 'Moving to the further more' are used mechanically and often incorrectly. The relationship between sentences is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. Referencing is also problematic; for example, the use of 'that' and 'this' often lacks a clear antecedent. The overall structure is disjointed, and the lack of cohesive devices makes the writing feel like a series of disconnected statements rather than a cohesive argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'It is often say' instead of 'It is often said' and 'provide enough home' instead of 'provide enough homes'. The student struggles to use academic vocabulary, relying on basic, often misused terms. Phrases like 'commercial use' and 'achieve success in our life' are used in contexts that do not make sense. The limited range of vocabulary and the high frequency of errors in word formation and usage significantly impede the clarity of the message.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often obscure the intended meaning. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement ('individual goes'), tense usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper punctuation, such as 'So i am agree with statement'. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors in basic syntax. Complex structures are attempted but are almost always faulty, such as 'while some believe that don’t waste money'. These persistent errors make the text difficult to read and understand.
