Student answer (Band 6.0)
As population keep on increasing, some people suggest building taller building would provide more area to occupy in larger cities.Personally, I would oppose this method of expanding livelihood because rather than building taller apartments in cities, people could develop suburban and rural areas into cities.
To begin with, building taller apartments have major drawbacks, firstly, they need a very strong basement which is not properly supervised by the company, secondly, taller building and people living in them get affected if any environmental disaster is faced, for instance, during earthquake people cant easily escape their house or take cover.
Hence, converting suburban places with amenities such as supermarkets, larger school and colleges, malls etc and om other hand, simultaneously developing rural areas, building better house and changing those areas into city like atmosphere would be more beneficial as people would have equal opportunity to develop and experience the city life.It also provides more jobs to people and students.
Furthermore, doing all these renovation most of the places would be like cities and people can settle down there rather than being congested in one single larger city, more people can get facilities and develop other places. Moreover, when a rural place or suburban get developed they get basic building such a hospitals. Developing these area would attract more people to settle down there and expand their territory.
To conclude, rather than building taller apartments block, it's much easier to expand and develop suburban and rural area to make space for people to settle.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention safety concerns and the benefits of suburban development, the arguments lack depth and specific examples. For instance, the claim about 'strong basements' is vague and lacks technical or logical support. To improve, you should provide more detailed reasoning or real-world examples of cities that have successfully managed urban sprawl versus high-density living. The conclusion effectively summarizes your stance, but the overall argument would benefit from more nuanced exploration of the trade-offs involved in urban planning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'Furthermore,' and 'To conclude.' However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions feel repetitive. For example, the transition 'om other hand' contains a typo and is used awkwardly. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'doing all these renovation,' where the antecedent is not explicitly defined. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas would elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'urban planning' (implied), 'suburban,' and 'environmental disaster.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'expanding livelihood' instead of 'urban expansion' or 'city development.' There are also minor errors in word formation, such as 'taller building' (should be plural) and 'city like atmosphere.' To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, they often contain grammatical errors that affect the flow. For example, 'As population keep on increasing' should be 'As the population keeps on increasing.' There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and punctuation, such as missing spaces after commas and periods (e.g., 'malls etc and om other hand, simultaneously'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic agreement and punctuation will significantly improve your accuracy.
