Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which severely limits your ability to develop your ideas. While you state a position, the argument is underdeveloped and lacks the necessary depth to fully address the prompt. You mention that high-rise buildings create 'some problems' but fail to elaborate on what these issues are, leaving the argument incomplete. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples and counter-arguments, ensuring you meet the length requirement to allow for a full discussion of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is too short to demonstrate effective paragraphing or a logical progression of ideas. While you use basic cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'As a result', the overall structure is fragmented. The lack of a conclusion and the limited development of the body paragraph make it difficult to follow a clear, coherent argument. To achieve a higher band, you need to organize your essay into a clear introduction, well-developed body paragraphs with topic sentences, and a summary conclusion, using a wider range of linking words to connect your ideas smoothly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is functional but basic. You rely on simple, repetitive phrases such as 'large cities', 'housing shortage', and 'build'. There is little attempt to use less common or academic vocabulary that would demonstrate a higher level of proficiency. For example, instead of repeating 'build', you could use 'construct', 'erect', or 'develop'. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to urban planning and housing, and try to vary your word choices to avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'many homes can built be built' (passive voice error) and 'there are several reason' (pluralization error). You also have punctuation issues, such as missing spaces before commas and inconsistent capitalization. The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited use of complex sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence construction. Once you are comfortable with these, try to incorporate more complex structures like relative clauses or conditional sentences to demonstrate a wider range.
