Student answer (Band 5.5)

IN RECENT YEARS THE BEST WAY TO PROVIDE HOMES IN LARGE CITIES IS TO BUILD TALL APARTMENTS BLOCKS HAS BACOME THE WIDELY DISSCUSSED ISSUE.IN MY PERSEPCTIVE I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT .WHY I AGREE THIS I WILL EXAPLAIN IT IN THIS ESSAY WITH EXAMPLE.

ON THE ONE HAND THERE ARE MANY REASON WHY I AGREE WITH THIS STATEMENT ONE IS THAT BUILD A TALL APPARTMENT BUILDING IN BIG CITIIES IT PROVIDES THE ACCOMODATAION OF MANY PEOPLE IN ONE BUILDING. FURTHERMORE ,LARGE NUMBERS OF PEOPLE WILL LIVE IN A ONE BUILDING.FOR EXAMPLE A 20 FLOOR BUILDING WILL PROVIDE THE ACCOMODATION OF 100 FAMILIES. THIS METHOD WILL OVERCOME THE SHORTAGE OF ACCOMODATION IN BIG CITIES.OTHER PLACES WILL BE USED AS PARK ,HOSPITAL OR FOR MANY OTHER PURPOSES.

ON THE HAND ,TALL BUILDING WILL TAKE THE LESS SPACE AND IT WILL BE CHEAP.IN ADDITION TO THIS WHEN A TALL BUILDING PROVIDE THE ACCOMODATION OF MANY PEOPLE THEN THERE WILL BE NO NEED OF BUILDING SEPERATE HOUSES AND IT ALSO MINIMISE THE CAST.FOR EXAMPLE WHEN GOVERNMENT BUILD A TALL BUILDINGS ,THE MONEY WHICH IS USED ON SEPRATE HOUSES IT WILL BE SAVE AND GOVERNMENT WILL USE IT FOR OTHER PORPOSES.IT ALSO SAVE THAT MONEY WHICH USED TO BUILD ROADS AND OTHER FACILITY FOR SEPERATE HOUSES.FOR INSTANCE IT SAVE THE AREA OF CITY ALSO IT TAKE LESS SPACE OF THE CITIES.

IN COCLUSION, IN BIG CITIES IT IS AN EFFICIENT AND BENEFICIAL METHOD TO OVERCOME THE ACCOMEDATION SHORTAGE PROBLEM.TALL BUILDING MINIMISE IT AND IT WILL BE CHEEP WAY OF GETTING ACCOMEDATION IN BIG CITIES AND WILL GENERATE THE MORE INCOME .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. The ideas are relevant, focusing on space efficiency and cost-effectiveness. However, the development is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the argument about saving space and money is restated across two paragraphs without significant new depth. While the position is clear throughout, the supporting examples, such as the 20-floor building, are simplistic. To reach a higher band, the student should aim to explore the implications of these points more thoroughly, perhaps by discussing the social or environmental impact of high-density living, rather than focusing primarily on the financial aspects.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. There is a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes repetitive (e.g., 'In addition to this', 'For example'). Furthermore, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the transition between ideas feels somewhat abrupt. The punctuation is inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and commas, which disrupts the flow of the text. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring consistent paragraph structure would significantly enhance the coherence of the essay.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'big', 'building', and 'accommodation'. There are frequent spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'bacome', 'disscussed', 'persepctive', 'exaplain', 'appartments', 'seperate', 'cast', and 'cheep'. These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not fully impede communication. To improve, the student needs to expand their range of vocabulary to include more precise academic terms and focus on accurate spelling of common words. The current range is just sufficient to convey the basic meaning of the argument.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors, such as 'Why I agree this I will explain it' and 'The money which is used on seprate houses it will be save'. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. Punctuation is also a significant issue, with many missing spaces after punctuation marks, which makes the text difficult to read. The student needs to focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common grammatical slips to improve their accuracy.
