Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses the prompt by discussing the benefits of tall apartment blocks. However, the position is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. While you mention the convenience of living near work and space efficiency, the arguments are not fully developed with sophisticated reasoning. For example, you mention 'village type shapes' as an alternative, but this is not a well-defined concept in urban planning. To reach a higher band, you should explore the counter-arguments or broader implications, such as social isolation or infrastructure demands, to provide a more balanced and comprehensive discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices like 'To commence with', 'Moving further', and 'To sum up' to signpost your points. However, the internal cohesion within paragraphs is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. For instance, the phrase 'in a large cities' is used frequently, and some sentences lack smooth transitions, making the flow feel slightly disjointed. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'this', 'these') is used more precisely would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'big cities', 'tall buildings', and 'enough homes'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'rented you enough of your half salary' and 'have easily access of their home'. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to urban development, such as 'high-density housing', 'urban sprawl', or 'infrastructure requirements'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('making tall buildings are the best way'), article usage ('a apartment'), and tense consistency ('the time they will gives to come to go'). While the meaning is generally understandable, these persistent errors in basic grammar prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and pluralization would significantly improve your accuracy.
