Student answer (Band 5.0)

There is the comparison of home and apartment blocks in cities because the people cannot provide enough homes .

In cities the people have made homes for our stay where they live with our families . They feel secure in home as compare to apartment .And, also home is safe in cities in this time many cases around like harassment and theft. But the other side some people like to live in apartment blocks because they made many stories .They can made many floors because they can earn money to take the floors on rent. The apartment blocks are also secure but the people go up and down can disturbed . The persons they can do government job they have must good facility of apartment block free for living during the period of job. Apartment blocks are in tall size building but inside small rooms and small area for living . They are good for small families to live there and best for those who can make for sale and earn money to gave on rent. People who often stay in blocks after retirement they can make our home to live there.

I am agree with that people they can provide enough homes as compare to apartment because this is also opportunity to earn money .For example my uncle have a apartment in Bahria Rawalpindi a very tall building they made and took gave on an international company for rent. A very large business run in this apartment and uncle take 4 million rent from this building they earn too much money from this .But, the other hand i disagree 30% because if you are living so the best place is home this is secure all over the sides and a peaceful to stay for relax your mind and spend time with family.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt but struggles to maintain a clear, consistent position. While you attempt to discuss the benefits of apartment blocks versus houses, the argument is often contradictory. For instance, you state you agree that apartment blocks provide enough homes, but then pivot to arguing that houses are better for security and family life. The ideas are present but lack the necessary development and logical flow required for a higher band. To improve, ensure you choose a clear stance and support it with focused arguments rather than listing disparate points about rent, security, and personal anecdotes.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. Paragraphing is used, but the internal logic within paragraphs is weak. Transitions between ideas are often abrupt or missing, such as the sudden shift from discussing government jobs to the size of apartment rooms. Cohesive devices are used in a mechanical or incorrect way, such as the repetitive use of 'but' and 'and' to start sentences. The progression of ideas is difficult to follow because the sentences do not link together smoothly to build a coherent argument. Improving the use of linking words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast' would help significantly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'home', 'apartment', 'good', and 'money'. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'they made many stories' (likely meaning storeys) and 'the people go up and down can disturbed'. These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to urban planning and housing, such as 'high-density living', 'residential infrastructure', or 'urban sprawl', and focus on correct collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that affect clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the people go up and down can disturbed'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, making the text difficult to parse. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, and using punctuation correctly to separate distinct ideas. Reducing the number of complex attempts until you have mastered basic accuracy will improve your score.
