Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the required 250-word minimum, reaching only 82 words. Because the essay is incomplete, the task is only partially addressed. While you have stated a clear position in the introduction, the body paragraphs are not developed, and the argument is cut off mid-sentence. To achieve a higher band, you must fully develop your ideas with supporting evidence and examples, ensuring the essay reaches the minimum length requirement. Currently, the lack of development prevents a full exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows a basic attempt at logical organization, with an introduction and the start of a body paragraph. However, because the text is incomplete, it is impossible to judge the overall progression or the effective use of cohesive devices throughout a full essay. The transition 'Owing to the following factors' is a good start, but the abrupt ending makes it impossible to assess the coherence of the argument as a whole. You need to complete your thoughts and use a wider range of linking words to connect your ideas logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally appropriate for the topic, with phrases like 'soaring simultaneously' and 'most feasible measure' demonstrating a reasonable level of control. However, the range is limited due to the brevity of the response. There are no significant errors in word choice, but the limited length prevents you from demonstrating the range of vocabulary required for higher bands. To improve, focus on incorporating more topic-specific collocations related to urban planning and housing development.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammar in the provided text is accurate, with complex sentence structures such as 'In order to resolve this problem, the construction of sky-scrapers is considered...' and 'since there is not much...'. There are no grammatical errors in the text provided. However, because the response is so short, the range of structures is limited. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate a wider variety of complex sentence forms consistently throughout a full-length essay.
