Student answer (Band 6.0)
THE BETTER OPTION TO PROVIDE HOUSING IN THE BIG CITIES IS, TO CONSTRUCT TALL BUILDINGS BLOCKS.I THINK IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO BALANCE THE SCARCITY OF SPACES IN THE LARGE CITIES.
TO BEGIN WITH THE BENEFITS OF CONSTRUCTING BIG STOREY BUILDINGS IN THE URBAN AREAS ARE , IT SHOULD BE EXTREMELY HELPFUL FOR WORKING INDIVIDUALS TO LIVE NEAR THEIR WORKPLACE AS MANY BIG INDUSTRIES ARE LOCATED IN THE URBAN SITES AND PEOPLE ARE SHIFTING FROM THEIR HOME LOCATION TO NEAR THEIR WORKPLACE ,ALTHOUGH IT WILL HELP THEM TO SAVE THEIR TIME AND MONEY. AS THEY PREFER TO RENT A APARTMENT RATHER THAN BUILDING THEIR OWN HOUSE . MOREOVER, NOWADAYS THERE ARE HUGE SHORTAGE OF LAND IN THE CITY AREA AND PEOPLE ARE FINDING IT DIFFICULT TO PURCHASE A LAND FOR BUILDING THE HOUSES,SO IT SHOULD BE BETTER IF THERE ARE FACILITIES TO BUY AN APARTMENT IN A HIG-RISE BUILDING RATHER THAN FINDING THE SEPARATE LAND. FOR INSTANCE, PEOPLE ARE SHIFTING FROM RURAL AREAS TO URBAN AREA FOR MANY REASONS AND IN A BIG BLOCK BUILDING MANY PEOPLE LIVE IN A SAME AREA INSTEAD OF CONSTRUCTING HUNDREDS OF SEPARATE HOUSES.
FURTHERMORE, DUE TO HIGH POPULATION AND THEIR RISING NEED OF HOUSES , FORCES TO CUT FORESTS RAPIDLY WHICH EFFECTS GLOBAL WARMING AS WELL AS ANIMALS LOST THEIR HOUSES TOO. SO CONSTRUCTING BIG BUILDINGS CAN SHELTER MANY FAMILIES IN A SAME PIECE OF LAND RATHER THAN CONSTRUCTING A HOUSE FOR EACH ONE OF THEM IN SEPARATE LAND. FOR EXAMPLE, DUE TO DEFORESTATION, GLACIERS ARE MELTING AND IT CAN EFFECT GLOBAL WARMING . FOR SAVING THE ENVIRONMENT WE NEED TO PROTECT THE FOREST AND ESTABLISH THE BIG APARTMENTS WILL BE THE BEST OPTION TO REDUCE THE CUTTING OF TREES.
IN CONCLUSION, BUILDING TALL APARTMENTS HELPS TO SHELTER MANY INDIVIDUALS IN A SAME AREA. APART FROM THIS, IT CAN ALSO HELP TO PROTECT FORESTS BEING DIMINISHED FOR THE NEED OF MILLIONS OF SINGLE HOUSES. BESIDES , IT WILL ALSO SUPPORT WILD ANIMALS TO STAY IN THEIR HOMES.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. The ideas are relevant, focusing on urban density, convenience for workers, and environmental preservation. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, particularly regarding the environmental argument. While the position is clear throughout, the supporting examples could be more specific and better integrated to reach a higher band. The response covers all parts of the task, but the depth of analysis is limited, keeping it within the Band 6 range.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the benefits for workers to the environmental advantages. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', 'In conclusion'). Additionally, some sentences are poorly linked, such as the transition between the discussion of land scarcity and the example of people shifting from rural areas. While the overall arrangement is coherent, the lack of sophisticated linking devices limits the score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There is a reliance on basic terms like 'big', 'good', and 'houses'. Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'big storey buildings' or 'separate land'. There are also minor errors in word formation and collocation, such as 'animals lost their houses' (should be 'habitats') and 'effects global warming' (should be 'affects'). To improve, the student should focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to urban planning and environmental issues.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Issues include incorrect article usage ('a apartment', 'a high-rise'), subject-verb agreement errors ('animals lost their houses'), and punctuation mistakes (spaces before commas). The use of capitalization for the entire first paragraph is also inappropriate for formal writing. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to proofreading and basic grammar rules is required.
