Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, containing only 81 words. Because the essay is incomplete, the task is only partially addressed. The position is unclear, and the ideas are severely underdeveloped. The introduction attempts to set up a discussion, but the body paragraph lacks the necessary depth, supporting evidence, or logical development required for an academic essay. The response fails to provide a balanced argument or a clear conclusion, which is essential for a high band score. To improve, you must expand your arguments with specific examples and ensure you meet the minimum word count to allow for full development of your ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a logical structure. While there is a brief attempt at an introduction, the body paragraph is fragmented and lacks cohesive devices to link ideas together. The sentences are disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. There is no clear paragraphing strategy, and the transition between the introduction and the body is non-existent. To improve, you should use linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in contrast' to connect your sentences and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting points.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'big buildings' and 'large cities'. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'manufactured big buildings blocks' and 'extent area', which indicate a lack of control over collocations and word choice. The vocabulary used does not demonstrate the range required for an academic task. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning, such as 'high-density housing', 'urban sprawl', or 'infrastructure', and practice using them in context to improve your precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammar is characterized by frequent errors that often impede communication. There are significant issues with sentence structure, such as fragments ('some creative natural environment in outside a large area') and missing articles or incorrect word forms ('appropriate method to provide enough houses'). The lack of complex sentence structures limits the range of grammar demonstrated. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction—ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb—and work on using conjunctions and relative clauses to combine simple ideas into more complex, grammatically accurate sentences.
