Student answer (Band 5.5)
In modern era, build tall apartment block has become controversial talk in the contemporary era. many large cities are facing a shortage of homes because the world population are increasing rapidly. some people believe that building tall apartment blocks is the way to solve this problem. I partly agree with this view because high building can provide more homes, but they can also create some problems.
No doubt, they can faced many problem. building and tall apartments can be an effect on environment. when many people
live in the same area, there can be more traffic and pressure on public for example, school, hospital, library are more crowded so they can face major difficulty. Moreover, tall building they have less space for children to play at home and for families to do any kind of activities. Secondly, they major problem of studies in my mind, it can recreation less privacy or sense of community they cannot share personal still together and living cost are also high some individuals cannot afford these are the major problems.
However, every coin has two sides, the first point is that tall building can create a sense of community because many people live close together, so residents can building connections and enjoy shared amenities and
They can save land because as we know that building is constructed upward or it take less space. Moreover when they will together they can share rent and help in bad time. The government should planting trees in free space which put positive effect like trees provide fresh oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide therefore, they can make cities modern organised and modern provides many facilities like light parking area and play grounds. In addition they can increase the number of homes available in cities. For example, my friend Rohan recently shift in united because recently he get a job in cities so he
take small room in apart in cheap price and he fa office on correct time that is why, I largely agree with statement.
In conclusion, I think that building and apartment is good way to provide homes in big cities They can save land and provide stand for many people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of tall apartment blocks. However, the position is somewhat inconsistent; while the introduction states a partial agreement, the body paragraphs struggle to maintain a clear, logical flow of argument. Some ideas, such as the impact on public services or the social benefits of high-density living, are mentioned but remain under-developed. The supporting examples, particularly the anecdote about 'Rohan', are vague and do not effectively illustrate the broader argument. To improve, you should ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-explained point that directly supports your overall stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward phrasing and disjointed sentences. While some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'However' are used, they are often placed incorrectly or do not bridge the ideas effectively. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the transition between environmental concerns and social issues is abrupt. The use of paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of these paragraphs lacks the necessary cohesion to guide the reader smoothly through your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'good way', 'big cities', and 'problems'. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'recreation less privacy' and 'building and tall apartments can be an effect on environment'. While the meaning is usually clear, the range of vocabulary is not sufficient to demonstrate the flexibility or precision required for higher bands. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to urban planning and housing, and try to avoid repeating the same basic descriptors throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There is a high frequency of grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('population are increasing', 'tall building they have'), missing articles, and incorrect verb forms ('build tall apartment block', 'government should planting'). Sentence structures are often simple or fragmented, and punctuation is frequently misused or missing, which occasionally impedes readability. While you attempt some complex sentences, they are often marred by errors. To reach a higher band, you must focus on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with verb tenses, pluralisation, and sentence construction, before attempting more complex structures.
