Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued that to reduce congestion in the cities, the best way is to built tall apartment blocks. while some people may contend that it is not a suitable option.in practical terms, it is not possible to make such an investment on the buildings for the adjustment of all community.I strongly agree with the view that to build tall apartment blocks is the only solution to this problem because excessive land is used to big houses that results in less land available for agriculture and other activities.

The primary reason why I agree with this view is that the world population is expanding rapidly that causes housing problems in the cities mainly where there is less land left as compare to the villages. It cause congestion and force people to ajust themselve in small houses that are not capable of living. For example, due to rapid population people live in slum areas the quality of life is hope that consequently causes number diseases.

Another compelling reason for my position is that the huge use of land for housing purpose causes food insecurity in the future because people utilize land on large scale to form mentions in the cities as a result only few land is available for food due to which there is huge increase in rates of food items. It makes the life of average class unaffordable.

in conclusion, I firmly believes that making large building blocks is the suitable option to adjust people in the cities and make cities habitable. Given these consideration government should take a step as early as possible to resolve this problem.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

You have clearly stated your position in the introduction and maintained it throughout the essay. The main ideas—population growth and land conservation—are relevant to the prompt. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding food insecurity is a bit tangential and could have been more directly linked to the efficiency of high-rise living versus urban sprawl. While you address the prompt, the supporting arguments lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. To improve, focus on providing more detailed explanations of how tall buildings specifically solve the housing crisis compared to other alternatives.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'The primary reason' and 'Another compelling reason,' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the connection between ideas is weak, such as the transition into the example about slum areas. Additionally, some sentences are fragmented or lack proper punctuation, which disrupts the logical progression of your arguments. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next will enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You rely on some repetitive phrasing, such as 'huge use of land' and 'large scale.' There are also several word-choice errors, such as 'form mentions' (likely meaning 'mansions') and 'adjust themselves' (when 'accommodate' would be more appropriate). To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more sophisticated collocations and academic vocabulary. Focus on learning synonyms for common words and ensuring that the words you choose are used in the correct context to convey your meaning accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'It cause congestion'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'to built'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing spaces after periods. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be distracting. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for punctuation errors. Practicing the use of complex structures like relative clauses or conditional sentences will also help improve your range.
