Student answer (Band 5.0)
The great idea to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks.
According to that, the best way for providing homes to people is that to built a tall and large apartment buildings who provides good and enough space to family. The environment must be neat and clean. All apartments will be well decorated and also fulfill the family needs. Electricity and gas should be provided to the families who lives there. All facilities must be provided to the families. For Example, You build an area who fulfills the common desires of the families.
On the other hand, i am agreed with this to build an apartments for families in a large city because build a house is not an easy task in a larger city. One thing that should be remember firstly is that you build an apartments in that area where all the facilities is available. For Example, electricity, gas, environment, hospitals, schools, parks, playing grounds and proper tracks for vehicles. There is an beautiful views outside the apartments and roads must be neat and clean.
In my opinion, we should build apartments instead houses in a larger cities because it is more convenient way and i am satisfied with this idea. All the facilities must be provided and the environment must be neat and clean. Schools and hospitals must be available in that area and also proper playing grounds for children where they enjoy themselves and also with there friends and siblings etc.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is limited. The essay relies heavily on listing facilities (electricity, gas, schools, hospitals) rather than providing a nuanced argument about urban planning, land scarcity, or social implications. The ideas are repetitive, and the response lacks depth, failing to explore the 'extent' of the agreement or potential counter-arguments in a sophisticated way. The content remains at a surface level throughout, which restricts the score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is mechanical and repetitive. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often basic or misused, such as 'According to that' at the start of the second paragraph, which does not logically connect to the previous sentence. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences feels disjointed. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks logical development, making the overall argument feel like a list of points rather than a cohesive essay.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Words like 'facilities', 'families', 'neat and clean', and 'build' are used frequently throughout the text. There is little evidence of a range of vocabulary appropriate for an academic task. Collocations are often unnatural, such as 'the best way for providing homes' or 'there is an beautiful views'. The lack of variety and the reliance on simple, everyday language prevent the response from reaching a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'families who lives there', 'all the facilities is available') and article usage (e.g., 'an beautiful views', 'an apartments'). Sentence structures are predominantly simple, and attempts at complex sentences often contain errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of basic errors in grammar and syntax is a significant limiting factor.
