Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is widely argued that the best way to provide enough homes is to build tall apartment blocks. I completely agree with this argument. This essay will describe why apartment blocks are beneficial in providing homes to inhabitants.

On the one hand, this will also give advantage to government because if they will provide separate single home to every resident than it will be very expensive for institute. Moreover, building apartment for them will be a cheap method for state to provide homes to them. Furthermore, if their would be separate homes for people than it will also be difficult for institute to collect bills and other dues, as if their will be departments than they can easily collect bills from all individuals

.

Another significant factor is that, it can positive for certain resident that have gas issues. This is particularly evident in the case of some people that face difficulties in case of gas so if their would be apartments than they will not face that type of difficulty. In addition, if their would be apartments than government can easily manage the population of that country. Because they can easily count individuals living in that country if their will be apartments. Apartments will be also convenient for them in case of robbery problems because it will be difficult for thieves to steal precious items from apartments as they have security guards for protection.

As far i am concerned that it is much more convenient to give them homes through apartments because people will also face less problems and it is also cheap and comfortable method for government.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. The arguments regarding 'gas issues' and 'robbery problems' are not clearly explained or logically linked to the broader topic of urban housing solutions. The points about government cost and population management are relevant but lack depth or specific examples. To improve, you should focus on providing more substantial evidence or logical reasoning for each point, ensuring that your arguments directly support the central thesis of urban housing efficiency rather than introducing tangential concerns.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is weak. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Furthermore', they are often used to connect ideas that do not follow a clear, logical sequence. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly with the use of 'they' and 'their', which makes it difficult for the reader to identify the intended subjects. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks a clear topic sentence and supporting detail flow. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring clear pronoun reference would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'cheap', 'good', and 'difficult'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'give advantage to government' instead of 'benefit the government' and 'institute' used incorrectly to refer to the state or government. The phrasing 'gas issues' is vague and does not convey a clear meaning in this context. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary to include more precise, academic terms related to urban planning and housing policy, and pay closer attention to standard collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'if their would be apartments' and 'if they will provide'. The misuse of 'their' instead of 'there' is a recurring error throughout the text. Sentence structures are generally simple, and attempts at complex sentences are often marred by incorrect verb tenses or faulty clause construction. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures, particularly the use of conditional sentences, and proofread carefully to eliminate common errors like the confusion between 'there' and 'their'.
