The best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
The most appropriate way to provide residence in the large cities is to manufacture tall buildings by creating apartments and blocks.
In the large cities there are much more facilities and every person wants to live near the facilities, where he or she can avail the facility easily. Due to this reason, it's the priority of the person to live in the large cities. The cities then become populated and there is no more space for the new coming in the cities and colonies of the city. So, the best way is to create tall buildings to overcome this problem.
Furthermore, due to the facilities like as schools, transport, healthcare, banks and offices, cover much area of the city. In a large city there are much more hospitals and schools almost in every part of the city. The new movers in the city find difficulty then in finding and creating new homes. Adding more, there's no any place for refreshment parks in large cities as there is no more space. Best idea is to manufacture tall buildings about 10 to 15 floors with apartments.
On the other side, if no tall buildings are been manufactured, this can cause serious issue of residence for the new ones who want their homes in the cities.
Concluding the topic, I would like to say that I agree to this statement because of the reasons given above. Adding more, this is the only solution to conserve the nature in the coming future. By creating tall buildings that provide the facilities like cleaning is favored by everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. While you mention facilities like schools and transport, the argument lacks depth and specific examples. The points made are somewhat generalized, and the explanation of why tall buildings are the 'best' way is not fully explored. To improve, you should expand on the economic or social benefits of high-density living and provide more concrete reasoning rather than simply restating that cities are crowded. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'Adding more' and 'In the large cities'. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed; for instance, the transition between the need for facilities and the suggestion of 10-15 floor buildings feels abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the logical flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect your arguments more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'large cities', 'facilities', and 'create'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'manufacture tall buildings' (buildings are constructed, not manufactured) and 'new coming' (newcomers). The phrase 'provide the facilities like cleaning' is vague and does not clearly convey your intended meaning. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary and collocations related to urban planning and housing, such as 'high-density residential developments' or 'urban sprawl'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are some attempts at complex sentences, they often contain grammatical errors, such as 'if no tall buildings are been manufactured' (should be 'have been constructed') and 'there's no any place' (incorrect negation). There are frequent errors in articles, verb forms, and prepositions throughout the text. These errors occasionally make the reader pause, though they do not completely impede communication. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and using a wider variety of complex structures with greater accuracy.
