Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is widely argued that constructing tall apartments is the best way, in order to provide enough homes in the large cities. I completely agree with this statement, it helps the authorities to keep greenery and focus on other constructions such as footpaths or cycle paths in the cities.
One of the main reasons is that building tall apartments gives opportunity to municipality to create more greenery in the cities such as big parks, especially near these tall buildings, so people can enjoy the view from the top of the building. Moreover, building skyscraper helps authorities to provide homes to more people in large urban areas, where space is limited. For instance, in Dubai, the government focus on constructing big and tall towers in order to build more houses in limited areas. Consequently, eliminate the problem of house crisis in the future and give excellent view to explore the city without going outside.
Other main reason is that high-rise apartments let more space to create another useful constructions for the benefit of city residence such as cycling path or more footpaths, It is frequent in large urban areas to find limited space for pedestrians or those who love cycling. Creating these paths not only reduce pollution problem but also help people to stay fit. For Instance, in Milan the local authorities decided to create more spaces for pedestrians and cycle lovers, it is helping city to take under control the pollution problem because the people use less personal cars and more cycle or walk.
In conclusion, building tall apartments blocks will not help just government but also the people who wish to live in big cities and enable to find a house. It will also help to save space for other useful constructions such as more walking or cycling path for the people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding urban density and the creation of public space are relevant and supported by examples from Dubai and Milan. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive; for instance, the benefits of 'greenery' and 'space' are mentioned in both body paragraphs without significant new depth. To reach a higher band, you should aim to explore the potential downsides or complexities of high-rise living to provide a more balanced and nuanced discussion, which would demonstrate a more sophisticated level of task development.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Consequently', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition 'Other main reason is that'. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing and punctuation, such as the comma splice in the first paragraph ('...statement, it helps...') and the run-on sentence structure in the second paragraph. Improving the variety and natural flow of linking words would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'urban areas', 'municipality', and 'pedestrians'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of imprecise word choice or awkward collocations, such as 'create another useful constructions' (should be 'create other useful infrastructure') and 'eliminate the problem of house crisis' (should be 'alleviate the housing crisis'). To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing like 'big' and 'help'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the large cities' should be 'large cities'), pluralization ('building skyscraper' should be 'building skyscrapers'), and subject-verb agreement. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several comma splices and missing articles. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring consistent use of articles would significantly improve your score.
