Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the modern era , the increasing number of population required proper housing to live has became a major challenge so some people believe that building building tall apartment blocks in large cities is the best solution to tackle this problem ,I completely agree with the statement because comes with benefits such as accommodate more people at one place while making efficient use of urban land .
To begin with , I completely do not believe that taller apartments are the only solution to tackle this issue construction of blocks in the higher building would lead problems such as overcrowding , lack of greenery and less privacy for instance if a exorbitant amount of people live in the same building will firstly suffer with cowed and comes with a great loss of privacy .
The most prominent reason behind this trend is to allow larger people to live in relatively small area for instance as today’s the number of population rate has been increasing rapidly and constructed the blocks in the taller buildings will help to accommodate more people at one place whereas building home at land with limit the land and contains only few number of people so building houses in the taller apartments will help to reduce housing storage and make better use of land . Another main advantage is easy excess to all work such as public transport ,workplace ,school ,hospital and more effective facilities as it helps to reduce the stress of traffic congestion and commuting time so a person may able to save his time and money .
To conclusion, I would reinforce my statement that building home in the taller apartments have some drawbacks but its benefits are far more

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt, but the position is inconsistent. In the introduction, you state you 'completely agree', yet the second paragraph explicitly states, 'I completely do not believe that taller apartments are the only solution'. This contradiction confuses the reader regarding your stance. While you provide some relevant ideas regarding land efficiency and access to facilities, the development is hindered by these conflicting arguments. To improve, ensure your position is clearly stated in the introduction and maintained consistently throughout the essay. The conclusion is also incomplete, as it cuts off abruptly, failing to provide a final summary of your argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is disrupted by the contradictory arguments mentioned above. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with' and 'Another main advantage', but they are sometimes used mechanically or inappropriately, such as using 'To conclusion' instead of 'In conclusion'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the progression of ideas is hampered by the lack of a clear, unified argument. The abrupt ending further impacts the overall coherence of the piece. Improving the use of transition signals and ensuring each paragraph supports a single, clear point would significantly enhance the structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'housing storage' (likely meaning 'shortage'), 'easy excess' (access), and 'larger people' (a larger population). You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle with collocations. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensuring that words are used in their correct context. For example, instead of 'constructed the blocks', use 'the construction of high-rise buildings'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('number of population required... has became'), run-on sentences, and incorrect sentence structure ('building home at land with limit the land'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces before commas and missing full stops. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for punctuation errors. Reducing the number of complex sentences until you have better control over basic grammar will help improve your accuracy.
