Student answer (Band 5.5)

Population, one of the most major problem of todays world which is causing massive issues for the countries creating hurdles in way of their progress. So the question arrises ,how this increasing population should be accommodated without making cities messier?

For this one of the best solution is to make tall apartment blocks ,where people can be easily accommodated without any mess!

According to my perspective, as in todays world ,due to this increasing population, deforestration is increasing massively ,forests are being completely removed and are being changed into cities for accommodation of this increasing population, which is the one of the leading cause of global warming & climatic changes, so instead of cutting down these trees and changing them into cities ,we should adapt different strategies which would help in world's betterment instead of making it a hell!

For this it is the best approach to not to do for deforestation, rather we should start making taller buildings which could help us in accommodation of people with proper mechanisms incase of Heavy Floods or Earthquakes, and any other emergency situation ,so that people can easily get themselves comfortable over there, without any thought of fear or danger, and with each and evry provided facility like lifts , stairs, and proper electricity backups having generators and sufficient amout of water supply for accommodating enough people.

Furthur arrangements can be made that for a proper check n balance a proper office can be made that would be responsible for counting people and monitoring there needs for there satisfaction, so that more the people will get comfortable with this ,the more it is better for the country's development.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by arguing in favor of tall apartment blocks to mitigate deforestation. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you mention environmental benefits and safety features, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the suggestion of an 'office' for 'counting people' is not a standard or well-developed solution to urban housing. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete examples of how high-rise living impacts urban infrastructure or social dynamics, rather than focusing on general statements about safety and electricity. The position is clear, but the supporting ideas need more academic rigor and logical extension.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical. You use some cohesive devices, but they are sometimes used incorrectly or repetitively (e.g., 'For this one of the best solution is...'). The transition between the environmental argument and the safety features is abrupt. Furthermore, the paragraphing is inconsistent; the final paragraph is very short and lacks a clear concluding thought. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in contrast') and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'massive issues', 'making it a hell', and 'proper mechanisms'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'deforestration is increasing massively' (deforestation occurs, it does not 'increase' in this context). Spelling errors like 'arrises', 'deforestration', 'evry', and 'amout' also detract from the overall quality. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and ensure you are using words in their correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('one of the most major problem'), punctuation errors (excessive use of commas and spaces before punctuation), and awkward phrasing ('the question arrises, how this increasing population should be accommodated'). The sentence structure is often run-on, making it difficult to follow the logic. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, reducing comma splices, and ensuring that your complex sentences are grammatically sound.
