Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, people believes that to fulfill housing issues the best way to deal with housing crises in metropolitan cities is to build more apartments. I strongly agree with the notion and explain in detail in this essay.
On the hand, population is growing rapidly in the world which is a problem to some extent. First of all, in todays world everybody wants to move to a big city to get a better a opportunity and good living standard leading to a housing crisis in the areas because of limited land. Moreover, Building multistory apartments can resolve the housing problem because tall building can accommodate numbers of apartments in a single building without acquiring a lot of land. For instance, lot of planned cities like Noida and Gurugram in India have skyscrapers to deal with housing problems.
On the other hand, not only limited land is the problem but also a increasing land prices is a big issue when it comes to buy a land or a house in the urban areas. Furthermore, people are finding it hard to buy a land and construct a house because of busy lifestyle and working pressure. For instance, building a house needs a lot of time and efforts to deal with architect or a builder so people find it easy to move in a ready to live apartments.
To conclude, the best approach to deal with a housing problems in the urban areas is to build multistory building because it does not require a lot areas plus lot of families can live in the building.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention land scarcity and convenience, the arguments could be extended further with more depth. For instance, you touch upon the 'busy lifestyle' as a reason for preferring apartments, but this point is not fully connected to the main argument about housing supply. The essay covers the requirements, but the supporting points remain at a somewhat superficial level, which prevents it from reaching a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'First of all', 'Moreover', and 'To conclude' to link ideas. However, the transition between paragraphs is slightly mechanical, and the use of 'On the hand' (which should be 'On the one hand') is a minor error in cohesive phrasing. The progression of ideas is logical, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to create a smoother flow between sentences.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'metropolitan cities', 'housing crisis', and 'skyscrapers'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'fulfill housing issues' (instead of 'address housing issues') and 'a increasing land prices' (should be 'increasing land prices'). The range is sufficient for the task but lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands, as you rely on relatively simple vocabulary throughout.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the quality of the writing. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('people believes', 'a increasing land prices'), missing articles ('deal with architect'), and awkward phrasing ('does not require a lot areas'). These errors occur regularly, though they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage.
