Student answer (Band 5.0)

The assertion that building high-rise apartment blocks in big urban centers can give plenty of homes. I completely disagree with this statement as these buildings has high possibility collapse in earthquake as well these buidlings can cause global warming.

There are several reasons to disagreement with this view. One important reasons is that tall apartment blocks can cause collapse during earthquake. If these high-rise apartments counstruct without proper planing and guidline they can't survive during earthquake. when earthquake accure these buildings can't Tolerance jolt of eathquake and it could cause collapse. As a result, i can became

death trap where a lots of residence on a life risk. For example, In Japan in 2011 eathquake called 'Great East Japan Earthquake' causes 500+ deaths in urban cities and most of the deaths causes because of these high rise apartments collapse.

Moreover, buidling high rise apartment blocks in big urban centers can cause global warming. The high rise buildings can damage biodiversity with high dense population. When buildings becaming more tall these building residents use more and more vehicals and airconditoners which makes a lot of carbon emission. Therefore, This carbon emission can disbalanced the biodiversity of these perticular cities. For instant, In Dhaka ,capital city of Bangladesh, the rate of carbon emission increasing day by day in residencial area where are the most of high-rise apartments blocks located and in a servey feedback shows that the main reason of carbon emissions is the air conditioners. consequently Dhaka became one of the most air polluted city of the world

in conclution, i firmly disagree with the view of building high rise apartments blocks in large cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The essay addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against high-rise buildings. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and relies on questionable premises, such as the claim that high-rise buildings are inherently prone to collapse in earthquakes or are the primary cause of global warming. While the student provides examples like the 2011 Japan earthquake and air conditioning usage in Dhaka, the arguments lack nuance and fail to consider the broader context of urban planning. The response is somewhat repetitive, and the conclusion is underdeveloped, failing to summarize the main points effectively. To reach a higher band, the student should provide more balanced, logical arguments and ensure that examples directly support the claims made.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'For instant' instead of 'For instance' and 'consequently Dhaka became'. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of smooth transitions between sentences. While there is an attempt to use linking words, the overall flow is occasionally disjointed. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the conclusion is abrupt, lacking a cohesive summary of the arguments presented in the body paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with several instances of incorrect word choice and spelling errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'counstruct' (construct), 'planing' (planning), 'guidline' (guidelines), 'accure' (occur), 'Tolerance' (tolerate), 'vehicals' (vehicles), and 'disbalanced' (imbalanced). The student relies on basic vocabulary and struggles to use more sophisticated or academic language effectively. To improve, the student needs to focus on accurate spelling and expanding their range of vocabulary to include more precise, topic-specific terms related to urban development and environmental issues.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often affect the readability of the text. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('these buildings has', 'most of the deaths causes'), article usage, and sentence structure ('If these high-rise apartments counstruct without proper planing... they can't survive'). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple or poorly constructed complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band score.
