Student answer (Band 5.5)
In this society overpopulation became a problem and some people think that to fulfill the needs of houses is to create large building and flats. I fully agree with notion, and I will explicate in upcoming
it is certain that over population become a problem for society, due to this there are lack of houses. to fulfil the needs of home is to build large building with more flats or apartment. flats have many merits to it, for instance flats are built in small area as compared to one individual house and these buildings utilize the resources fully and provide sufficient housing also, they provide better housing structure and parking. this type of society has great security and facilities like near school, park, grocery stores and sometime have playground for children
Furthermore, these apartment block society have low prices as compared to individual houses and have all facilities such as kitchen, bathroom, lobby etc. also, the scenery from above is beautiful. this apartment also has some demerits like; person have not bought the land and live near with other people compared to individual house; the land is also bought with house and have a separate space. but it has many advantages for overpopulation and people do not have to put lots of money for buying this in this type of society
In conclusion, these apartment block building has many merits to it, and it is best for providing homes for people at lower cost and I strongly agree with this notion.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention benefits like security, facilities, and cost, these points are presented as a list rather than being fully extended with specific examples or logical depth. The introduction is incomplete, ending abruptly with 'upcoming', which suggests a lack of planning. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main idea is supported by a clear explanation or a real-world example, and provide a more comprehensive introduction that outlines your main arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'In conclusion', 'also'). There are instances where the flow between sentences is disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where ideas about security and facilities are grouped together without smooth transitions. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the lack of a proper concluding sentence in the introduction affects the overall progression of the argument. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'better', and 'many'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'fulfill the needs of houses' (should be 'housing needs') and 'apartment block society' (which is not a standard collocation). While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of sophisticated or topic-specific vocabulary (e.g., 'urban density', 'infrastructure', 'cost-effective') limits the score. Focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic terminology.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('overpopulation become', 'person have not bought'), missing articles, and incorrect pluralization ('large building'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of semicolons and commas. While the meaning is usually understandable, the high frequency of basic grammatical errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage is essential.
