Student answer (Band 5.0)

In todays time it getting very difficult to find plots or homes in large cities because of increasing population. In recent years it claims that if you need to buy home or plots in large cities you need have enough money instead of these we can build tall apartment or building in large cities to get the people home easily. It will take larger area to build but it can get a home in large cities easily. In one building there 100 of flats that we can buy.

As per my knowledge it is mandatory to build tall apartments in large cities it will help people to get home easily as compare to buy a plot and build a home over it. Moreover people prefer to buy a flat in large cities to live. Yet to build a tall apartment in larger cities it needs large amount of space.

Yes, i strongly agree with statement that to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks because it will help the people to buy the flat in that apartment which can get easily with better price or they can live by giving rent.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state your position clearly, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, you mention that tall buildings save space, but you do not explain the socio-economic or environmental implications of this approach. The ideas are underdeveloped, and the response feels more like a brief outline than a full essay. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples, such as the impact on urban infrastructure or the quality of life for residents, to ensure a more comprehensive discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into three short paragraphs, which is a basic structure. However, the progression of ideas is limited. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Yet', but the transitions between sentences are often mechanical or abrupt. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'instead of these we can build', which lacks a clear antecedent. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects logically to the next, creating a smoother flow of information throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'large cities', 'homes', and 'build'. There is little attempt to use more sophisticated or academic vocabulary appropriate for an IELTS Task 2 essay. Phrases like 'In todays time' and 'get the people home easily' are informal and imprecise. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to incorporate topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning, such as 'high-density housing', 'urban sprawl', 'infrastructure', or 'sustainable development'. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you avoid repetition and express your ideas with greater precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('it getting', 'it claims'), missing articles ('buy home', 'in large cities'), and awkward sentence structures ('instead of these we can build'). You rely heavily on simple sentence structures, and there is a lack of complex grammatical forms. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and article usage. Once these are consistent, try to incorporate more complex structures like relative clauses or conditional sentences to demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
