Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you attempt to address the prompt, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack clarity. You mention both advantages and disadvantages, but the connection to the specific prompt—whether tall apartment blocks are the 'best' way to provide homes—is weak. The ideas regarding business and property dealers are tangential and do not directly support or refute the core argument. To improve, you must expand your points with specific examples and ensure your position is clearly stated and maintained throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.5

The essay lacks a clear logical progression. While there are attempts at paragraphing, the transitions between ideas are abrupt and often confusing, such as the sudden shift to business concerns in the second paragraph. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, making it difficult to follow your line of reasoning. The introduction is poorly structured, and the conclusion does not effectively summarize your position. To improve, focus on using clear topic sentences for each paragraph and linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') to connect your ideas more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic or incorrectly used terms. Phrases like 'less place conjunction area' and 'conslliness' are unclear and impede the reader's understanding. There are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'suficent', 'peragraph', 'awn', 'chooise') and issues with word choice that make the text difficult to interpret. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary and focus on using words in their correct context. Avoid repeating the same simple words and try to incorporate more precise academic terminology related to urban planning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammar is characterized by frequent errors that often cause difficulty for the reader. Sentence structures are mostly simple or fragmented, and there is a lack of complex grammatical forms. Issues with subject-verb agreement, punctuation, and word order are pervasive (e.g., 'there are many destinations are in their awn place'). The lack of proper sentence boundaries makes the text feel like a series of disjointed phrases rather than a cohesive essay. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct subject-verb-object order, and practice using conjunctions to create more complex, error-free sentences.
