Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the development of ideas. The essay fails to present a clear position on the extent of agreement or disagreement, and the arguments provided are superficial and lack supporting examples or logical extension. The response addresses the topic only partially, as it does not explore the complexities of urban planning or the potential drawbacks of tall apartment blocks. Due to the extreme brevity and lack of development, the response does not meet the criteria for a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into very short paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. While there is an attempt to use basic cohesive devices like 'Although' and 'Moreover', the logical flow is hampered by the lack of content. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall structure is too rudimentary to demonstrate effective paragraphing or cohesive management. The response lacks the necessary length to demonstrate a range of cohesive devices.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying on simple phrases such as 'important to facilitate' and 'smart strategies'. There is little evidence of a range of vocabulary appropriate for an academic essay. Collocations are often inaccurate, such as 'take less portion of the ground' and 'giving opportunity by taking small area'. The limited word count prevents the demonstration of a wider or more sophisticated lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('housing schemes is', 'apartments block') and missing articles. Sentence structures are predominantly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Punctuation is inconsistent, and the use of the lowercase 'i' for the first-person pronoun is a recurring error. The grammatical control is insufficient to convey ideas accurately and fluently.
