Student answer (Band 6.0)
The ultimate method to offer shelter to more people in urban areas is by constructing residential skyscrapers to accommodate a large number of people. I strongly second this view because less ground space will be occupied and people will have enough area for agriculture purposes. In addition to that, it'll be easy for the local government bodies to manage the cities and a better infrastructure can be provided.
The urban population has been growing over past few decades. A large number of people is moving to cities for better opportunities and facilities. New residential colonies are being built and cities are significantly expanding to overcome this issue. While, this solution is giving a birth to a new problem that is lack of organic food. Cities are covering most of the area for residential purposes, ignoring the need for food. By building tall residential sites can leave a lot of room for farming.
The other issue that overpopulation in metropolitan areas brings is that the local government is struggling to provide better infrastructure. That leads to an increase in traffic congestion and air pollution. The cities covering small ground area can be managed properly. The management can easily provide public transport services. Residents will not have to use their personal vehicles to move around the city. Other than that, in a closed city, people don't have to travel long distances to go to places like markets, hospitals, etc.
I'd conclude it by mentioning that indeed it's beneficial to construct vertically larger buildings to facilitate the people for residence. In this way, people don't have to face the space problems for agriculture needs. Also, avoiding the cities to expand horizontally can provide better infrastructure for the people living in those cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. You have identified two main arguments: the preservation of land for agriculture and the efficiency of infrastructure management. While the ideas are relevant, they could be further developed with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. For instance, the link between tall buildings and 'agriculture purposes' is a unique point, but it lacks a concrete example of how this would function in a real-world city. The conclusion effectively summarizes your stance, ensuring the task requirements are met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition to that,' 'While,' and 'Other than that' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow, though the connection between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. Referencing is mostly clear, but there are instances where the flow between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to create a more natural, sophisticated narrative.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'metropolitan areas,' 'residential skyscrapers,' and 'traffic congestion.' There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'avoiding the cities to expand' (should be 'preventing cities from expanding') and 'vertically larger buildings' (which is slightly awkward phrasing). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Expanding your repertoire to include more collocations and topic-specific academic vocabulary would enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. You show control over basic grammar, but there are recurring errors, such as 'A large number of people is moving' (should be 'are moving') and 'giving a birth to a new problem' (the article 'a' is unnecessary). Additionally, there are some punctuation and phrasing issues, such as the comma splice in 'While, this solution is giving...' and the slightly informal 'I'd conclude it by mentioning.' While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more consistent control over complex structures.
