Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, some people think that the good way to provide citizens sufficient number of homes in urban areas is to manufacature large apartment buildings. I largely agree with this opinon because of efficient use of space and lower cost and affordability but it also have some disadvantages.
One major reason why I support large buildings over individual homes is that land in large cities is scarce and expensive. Tall buildings use land space in a better which the individual houses can't provide. Vertical building prevents cities from expanding outward, which protects surrounding green spaces and farmland. For example, one piece of land, where only few houses can build, if we convert that land and manufacture tall building it can give homes to large number of families which is suitable solution to overcome this problem.
Another important reason is that buyers do not have to purchase expensive individual plots of land. In other words, costs for security, repairs, and utilities are shared among many residents in the building. Apartments offer a practical, lower-priced alternative to detached houses for average earners which is good for people and city too.
However, there are also some disadvantages. Living in tall buildings make the spaces over crowded for people and less private. In apartments, there is only enough space for a single family, so if there are some guests there will be no space to settle them. Also, in tall buildings there is not enough place for childrens to play, which makes them physicall and mentally bored.
In conclusion, I agree that developing large buidings to provide homes to maximum people is a good way to solve the housing problem because it can help more people and city. But the Government should provide them playgrounds and parks so pople living in those apartments can also enjoy the better life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, maintaining a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding land scarcity and cost-sharing are relevant and well-supported. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic; for instance, the explanation of why tall buildings are better for the city could be more nuanced. The counter-argument regarding disadvantages is included, but the points about 'boredom' and 'guests' are slightly simplistic. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on the societal or environmental implications of high-density living with more sophisticated reasoning, rather than focusing solely on personal convenience.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, such as the benefits of vertical building or the drawbacks of high-density living. Cohesive devices like 'One major reason', 'Another important reason', and 'However' are used effectively to guide the reader. While the progression is generally smooth, some transitions between sentences within paragraphs feel slightly mechanical. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some minor improvements in sentence-to-sentence flow would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'scarce', 'vertical building', and 'detached houses'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice or awkward collocations, such as 'manufacature large apartment buildings' (instead of 'construct' or 'develop') and 'settle them' (instead of 'accommodate them'). Spelling errors like 'buidings', 'pople', and 'physicall' occur, though they do not impede communication. Expanding your range of topic-specific collocations would help elevate the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is consistently clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('it also have some disadvantages', 'childrens to play') and article usage ('the good way', 'a better which'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward phrasings that could be refined for better flow. The range of structures is sufficient to convey the argument, but the frequency of minor errors prevents a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic agreement and pluralization would be beneficial.
