Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the response is under the 250-word minimum, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. While you provide relevant arguments regarding land scarcity and commuting efficiency, the conclusion is missing, and the final sentence is incomplete, which prevents a full development of your argument. To improve, ensure you reach the word count by fully expanding on your points and providing a clear, complete conclusion that summarizes your main arguments. The ideas are relevant but remain somewhat superficial due to the lack of depth and the abrupt ending.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a basic attempt at logical progression. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'Moreover', but the flow is occasionally hindered by mechanical phrasing and the incomplete final sentence. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'reach their', where the object is missing. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and a logical conclusion. The abrupt ending significantly disrupts the overall coherence of the piece.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You use some relevant terms like 'urban areas', 'job opportunities', and 'carbon emissions', but there are several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'thie' (this), 'sereval' (several), 'skyscapers' (skyscrapers), and 'scarity' (scarcity). These errors do not completely impede communication, but they do limit the sophistication of your writing. To improve, focus on learning collocations and proofreading for common spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the clarity of your writing. Examples include 'building are build tall' (buildings are built tall), 'large of people' (a large number of people), and 'people donot used transportation' (people do not use transportation). Subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency are areas that need significant attention. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents a higher score. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex structures.
