Student answer (Band 6.0)
The high-rise apartment is required to be build in order to provide sufficient housing facilities in mega cities. I am totally agree with the statement and I will discuss it further in the essay.
To begin with, the large cities have all the elements that influence the population from the other districts to migrate to the cities. The employment rate is higher as well as the healthcare facilities are modern comparing with local clinics outside the cities. Adding to that, the reputed and well established firms are all situated to the large cities which opens up the opportunities to the job seekers. Therefore, in order to tackle the increasing number of population there is no alternative than to construct the tall housing blocks which consequently would provide the housing to the large population in a smaller square feet area.
In addition, the development of high-rise residential model would eventually conserve the land since less land requires for the providing home to the growing population, The rest of the land can be use for developing the essential facilities for example: Hospital, exhibition centres etc and other recreational facilities for instance, theme park, botanical gardens etc.
Furthermore, the government would be able to maintain the city corporation's level services to the concentrated area rather than scattered area all around the different parts of the large cities. Therefore, the quality of services will be well-maintained and more citizens will be beneficial from the services.
To conclude, the rising number of population has been a major concern for the mega cities and to solve the issues it's important to plan and construct the high-rise housing facilities in order to provide the standard living facilities to the city people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in favor of high-rise apartment blocks. The ideas are relevant, focusing on land conservation, service efficiency, and urban migration. However, the development is somewhat limited; while the points are logical, they could be further extended with more specific examples or deeper analysis. For instance, the mention of 'recreational facilities' is a good start, but the argument could be strengthened by discussing the potential social or environmental trade-offs of high-density living. The response is consistent in its stance throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, such as land conservation or service efficiency. Cohesive devices like 'To begin with,' 'In addition,' and 'Furthermore' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and sentence flow, such as the awkward phrasing in the second paragraph regarding 'the large cities.' Overall, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'mega cities,' 'recreational facilities,' and 'concentrated area.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'influence the population' (should be 'attract') and 'the large cities' (often redundant). The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the large cities'), verb forms ('is required to be build'), and subject-verb agreement ('less land requires'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences and comma splices. These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. More attention to proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would be beneficial.
