Student answer (Band 5.0)

The good way to provide everyone's homes in the big cities is to build tall apartments blocks. I am totally agreeing with that, and I will explain in this essay why I am agreeing with that. On one hand, I think in the large cities they should make more and tall buildings to provide everyone good consequences. In this way everyone can spend their life with each other and maintain good life cycle. Moreover, they can help each other's in their problems and make good and unforgettable bonding with people they love. For instance, living close to individuals provide good environment and people can see everyone's odds and help to solve them. Furthermore, nowadays homelessness is a big issue in our country. Many individuals are buying places and left for the future plans. On the other hand, the poor people are facing many odds about that because they don't have place to live. Everyone should help each other to maintain good environment. For example, the government should give everyone the same rights and provide them good employments. They should also make tall building and enough apartments and provide to poor people who can't afford living expenses. Nevertheless, Allah says in Quran if you help people in their problems then I will help you a lot. The governments can provide a big role in everything. Individuals give them vote for to maintain good life cycle and behave everyone in the same way. In conclusion, I would also prefer that type of living eras because everyone can live with that people they love. In this way the living expenses would be low too.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt, but the development of ideas is limited and often repetitive. While you state your agreement, the arguments provided—such as 'maintaining a good life cycle' or 'unforgettable bonding'—are vague and lack specific, logical connection to the topic of high-rise apartment blocks. The essay tends to drift into general statements about helping the poor or government responsibilities rather than focusing on the architectural or urban planning implications of tall buildings. To achieve a higher band, you need to provide more concrete, relevant arguments, such as land efficiency, infrastructure pressure, or social isolation, and support these with clearer examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression of ideas is weak. Transitions like 'On one hand' and 'On the other hand' are used, but they do not effectively introduce contrasting arguments related to the prompt. Some sentences are disjointed, and the connection between ideas within paragraphs is often unclear. For instance, the transition to the mention of religious texts feels abrupt and does not contribute to the coherence of the argument regarding urban housing. Improving the use of cohesive devices and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'good consequences', 'good life cycle', and 'many odds' are used in ways that are not natural or precise. There is a lack of topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning or housing (e.g., 'high-density housing', 'urban sprawl', 'infrastructure', 'sustainable development'). You rely on simple, general-purpose words, which limits your ability to express complex ideas effectively. To improve, focus on learning collocations and academic vocabulary relevant to common IELTS topics, and avoid using vague descriptors like 'good' or 'big' repeatedly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with article usage ('the large cities', 'the poor people'), subject-verb agreement ('living close to individuals provide'), and word order. Sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting more complex forms. For example, 'Everyone should help each other to maintain good environment' is missing articles, and 'Individuals give them vote for to maintain good life cycle' is syntactically incorrect. You need to focus on basic sentence construction, correct use of articles, and ensuring that your verb forms are consistent and accurate.
