Student answer (Band 5.0)
In large cities for providing homes to every person building tall apartment blocks are the greatest way. I strongly support this idea because it has many benefits but it also have many drawbacks.
Tall blocks provide more and enough space for living and good view. In tall buildings we provide a lot of homes for a large number of individuals and it provides a beautiful view of surroundings. In tall apartments a huge number of people are live in that case they know about their society and make good connections with each other.
Along with that, it also have many problems such as during the earthquake the the tall buildings are destroyed easily because the power of gravity is very high. On other hand, it also enhance the growth of plants or trees which are live in the city. Because it stop the sunlight, and do not allow sunlight to reach the ground and trees. Trees and other plants make their food from sun light but if it stops they will die in few days.
In conclusion, it helps to manage the living of people in big city and it also help to spread the socialism knowledge to everyone. Along with that it also have many problems but it not a huge matter. I strongly support the idea of making big and tall blocks to over come the problem of homeless people in large cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, but it fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay touches on both benefits and drawbacks, the arguments are superficial and lack depth. For instance, the point about 'socialism knowledge' is unclear and poorly explained. The conclusion reiterates the position but does not add any new insight. Because the response is under-length and the ideas are not fully extended or supported with specific examples, it falls into the lower band range.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'Along with that' is used repetitively and sometimes inappropriately. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is somewhat disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the transition from housing benefits to social connections is abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the overall flow lacks the sophistication required for a higher band score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. The student relies on basic terms like 'good', 'big', and 'many'. There are instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choice, such as 'socialism knowledge' and 'the power of gravity is very high' (referring to earthquake damage). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to discuss the topic with precision. To improve, the student needs to incorporate more academic collocations and topic-specific terminology related to urban planning and architecture.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('it also have', 'people are live'), article usage ('the the tall buildings'), and sentence structure. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often faulty or contain errors. For example, 'Because it stop the sunlight, and do not allow sunlight to reach the ground and trees' is a fragment/run-on issue. The control of basic grammar is inconsistent, which limits the score.
