Student answer (Band 5.0)
The world is rapidly globalizing, and housing has become a crucial part of society. Some people believes that building tall apartment blocks can be the best way to provide enough homes in large cities, while others argue that it can have negative impact on people's life. Personally, I partially agree with the statement that providing apartments can be the best solution.
First and foremost, there are several reasons why building tall apartment blocks is beneficial. One main reason is that people can live their life in their own way. As people get their own apartment, they can live on their own and can become independent which is beneficial for people living in city areas. For example, old people can use lift available in the building to move from one place to another which become easier and convenient for them. Especially in large city areas buying a land is very expensive and people prefer buying apartment to cover up their daily expenses. That's why, tall apartment blocks is the best solution to provide enough homes in urban areas.
On the other hand, critics argue that it will have negative effect on peoples' lives especially on younger generation. Young people loves to live in an apartment apart from their parents, they will learn negative habits. As parents thinks that their children will forget about their culture, social norms and values, and develop a habit of adapting western cultures like staying in a living together relationship. Consequently, it is evident that living in a house can be beneficial for young people.
In conclusion, although providing apartment blocks has many disadvantages, it can be managed by maintaining rules and regulation. By providing enough information about the rules and regulation about the apartments, societies can minimize the adaption of western culture and maximize the way of providing apartment which can be necessary for the future generation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt, but the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you state a position, the arguments regarding 'independence' and 'negative habits' are not fully explored or linked strongly to the core issue of urban housing density. The argument about 'western culture' is a bit tangential and lacks a clear connection to the necessity of tall apartment blocks as a solution to urban housing shortages. To improve, focus on the economic and environmental benefits of high-density living, such as land efficiency and infrastructure sustainability, rather than social or cultural concerns which are less relevant to the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'First and foremost' and 'On the other hand' to signal transitions. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes repetitive, and the logical progression between sentences is occasionally weak. For instance, the transition from discussing the convenience of lifts to the cost of land is abrupt. Using a wider range of cohesive devices and ensuring that each sentence builds logically upon the previous one would improve the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You rely on basic phrases like 'good way' or 'negative impact' and repeat words such as 'apartment' and 'people' frequently. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'adaption of western culture' instead of 'adoption'. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning, such as 'high-density housing', 'urban sprawl', 'infrastructure', or 'sustainable development'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Some people believes', 'Young people loves', 'parents thinks') and pluralization (e.g., 'tall apartment blocks is'). While you attempt some complex sentence structures, they are often marred by these errors. The punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence variety is limited. Focusing on basic accuracy, especially ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, will significantly improve the clarity and quality of your writing.
