Student answer (Band 6.0)

The good option to give houses in large urban areas is to build tall apartment blocks. I agree with this statement because large cities are over populated, and also in today's world the property prices are too much. In this essay i will discuss these how this could be beneficial.

In large cities there are large number of companies offices are located and a lot of peoples are come from the out station in search of job, good living standard and some for their child's education. So there is not enough space to build a separate homes for everyone. For Example, In New York, London or Beijing there is a lot of people lived over there and also people come from other cities so they become over crowded. So that is best solution to build a multi-story apartment buildings to provide shelter to everyone. It is easier for everyone to stay get their home once apartment and it also covers less space as well.

Another reason to agree with this statement is that now-a-day property prices are skyrockets and it is difficult for some to buy a property and build their own home. For Example, in New York, Melbourne or Ontario where property sector is too much at skyrocketed.

So in these cities for middle class families who are living hand to mouth for them to buy a property and build their own is too much so these apartment's are alternate of these houses and at lower prices possible prices and for middle class family to stay at their own home rather than at the renting home.

In conclusion, I agree with this statement because now-a-days property prices are high and large cities are over populated so to provide separate home to everyone is not possible so that's the best alternate own a personal and affordable house.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. The ideas are relevant, focusing on overpopulation and high property costs. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the second and third paragraphs, where the same points about New York and property prices are revisited without adding significant depth. While the position is clear throughout, the supporting arguments could be more nuanced to reach a higher band. The essay covers all parts of the task, but the lack of varied supporting evidence or deeper analysis of the trade-offs limits the score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. There is a logical progression from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive, with 'So' and 'For Example' being used frequently to start sentences. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'these apartment's are alternate of these houses', where the connection to the previous argument is slightly disjointed. Overall, the structure is coherent, but the flow between ideas could be smoother with more varied transition words.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks range and precision. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and non-standard collocations, such as 'property prices are too much', 'out station', and 'living hand to mouth for them to buy a property'. The student relies on basic vocabulary and repeats certain terms like 'property' and 'large cities' frequently. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of more sophisticated or precise vocabulary prevents a higher score. Spelling is generally accurate, but the word choice often feels informal or slightly unnatural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow, such as 'a lot of peoples are come', 'child's education' (plural intended), and 'these apartment's are alternate of these houses'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the misuse of apostrophes in plurals. While the meaning is usually understandable, the frequency of errors in basic subject-verb agreement and sentence construction indicates a limited control over complex structures. More attention to proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would significantly improve the quality of the writing.
