Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, but the development of ideas is limited and often repetitive. While you mention the benefits of tall buildings, such as land efficiency, the arguments are not fully extended. For example, the point about the economy is mentioned but not explained. The conclusion simply repeats points from the body paragraphs rather than synthesising the argument. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on one clear main idea supported by a specific explanation or example, and avoid simply restating the prompt or previous sentences.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the flow between and within them is often disjointed. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'For instance', but they are sometimes used incorrectly or in a way that does not logically connect the ideas. The referencing is frequently unclear, such as in the phrase 'The best option is do not open cities is to build tall building', which makes the logic difficult to follow. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will significantly improve your score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, often relying on basic words like 'good', 'big', and 'provide'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'accommodation large cities' instead of 'accommodation in large cities' and 'other nations people' instead of 'people from other nations'. Some phrases are unclear due to incorrect word forms. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning collocations (words that naturally go together) and using a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary related to urban planning and housing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'individuals wanted to homes'), missing articles, and incorrect sentence structures. Many sentences are fragmented or lack a clear subject and verb, such as 'Lacks of open spaces.' While you attempt some complex ideas, the lack of control over basic grammar makes these difficult to understand. Focus on mastering simple sentence structures first, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject, verb, and object, before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
