Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of tall apartment blocks. However, the position is somewhat inconsistent; while you acknowledge other methods, the essay lacks a clear, sustained argument regarding whether you 'agree' or 'disagree' with the statement. The ideas are relevant, but some points, such as the mention of Mumbai, are under-developed and lack a clear connection to the broader argument. To improve, ensure your position is clearly stated in the introduction and maintained throughout the body paragraphs, providing more depth to your supporting examples rather than listing them briefly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices like 'On the one side', 'First and foremost', and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions are slightly awkward, such as 'On the other land' (likely meant 'hand'). Referencing is generally clear, but the logical progression within paragraphs could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used naturally will help elevate your score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'contemporary era', 'spectacular view', and 'luxurious facilities'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'build in limited space' (should be 'built') and 'do not need to move in cities' (should be 'move to'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more academic synonyms for common words to express your ideas with greater clarity and impact.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('tall buildings are best way', 'tall building have'), article usage, and verb forms ('they are build'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some sentence fragments and comma splices. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining your use of complex sentence structures will be beneficial.
