Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is acceptable that increase in population is challenging threat for today's society. I partially agree with the statement that provide enough homes in large cities through building tall apartment block is suitable solution to manage overpopulation.

It is irrefutable that population is increasing day by day. Land is not sufficient against the human population, crowed is constantly growing and every person wants their own stay without any discomfort. The advantages of apartment are more than individual house. It helps to manage huge crowd in small area that provides many facilities like gym, garden, social activity and helps to enhance relationship between neighborhood. Also it encourage government to find more people at one place. Some properties are providing balcony facilities to customer, this design provide luxury and feels more security.

There are bit disadvantages of high building that contains lift, in case of lift damage; people need to go from stairs and it is very annoying thing for high floor flat holders. In addition, all the facilities available at flat is common for all individual, as result people are feeling discomfort. Furthermore, parking is one of the major issue for all householders some flats do not have their own parking facilities to park their vehicle. Moreover, some time it irritating to do updown from high floor to ground floor.

To put it in nutshell, i conclude that apartment has large numbers of benefit to manage overcrowd while it has some drawback that can be overcome by advancement of technologies and providing sufficient space.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a partially agreeable stance. While the main ideas are relevant, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the benefits of apartment living are listed (gym, garden, social activity) but not fully explained in terms of how they solve the housing crisis. Similarly, the drawbacks are mentioned, such as lift issues and parking, but these points are not deeply explored. The conclusion is brief and lacks a strong summary of the arguments presented. To improve, you should aim to provide more detailed explanations and specific examples to support your claims, ensuring that your position remains clear throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Furthermore', and 'To put it in nutshell' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'To put it in nutshell' (missing an article) and 'Also it encourage government'. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the transition between sentences could be smoother to improve the flow of the argument. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words will help your writing sound more natural and cohesive.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks sophistication. You rely on basic terms like 'crowd', 'discomfort', and 'annoying'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'crowed is constantly growing' (should be 'crowding' or 'population density') and 'do updown' (which is not standard English). While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'overpopulation' and 'high floor flat holders', the range is limited. To achieve a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and improving your control over collocations to express your ideas more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity, such as 'It is acceptable that increase in population is challenging threat' (missing articles) and 'all the facilities available at flat is common' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in sentence construction. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence structure will significantly improve your grammatical accuracy.
