Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is argue that, it is a good approach to provide as possible houses in the big cities by building tall apartment blocks. I strongly agree with this statement. The reason is that, the high buildings cover less space and it is a best way for staying numerous people around the commercialised area in one place.

Firstly, constructing tall apartments could be the best way to concise space covering by them because large cities do not have enough space only for accumodation. There are numerious people who lives in big cities for job and educational purposes. For instance, in big cities like Islamabad many residential areas are constructed like a apartments blocks so people can live there and less area could be covered. So, by this way many individual easily find a place to live.

Furthermore, by building tall apartments blocks for people to stay is a best approach for people who wanted to live near well a known area due to this way, many people can stay around the job places or near their educational places like colleges or universities. For example, by staying in a hostel which is based as a tall building can be a easy way for many students to attend classes without any transportation hurdles. So, It can lea to better development plan.

IIn conclusion, It is more appropriate way to build tall apartments blocks for the numerious people to live in the same place. I strongly agree with this view because this approach will cover less space in large cities and also many people can live near commercialised areas.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding space efficiency and proximity to amenities are relevant. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the point about 'commercialised areas' is mentioned in both body paragraphs without significant expansion. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced analysis, such as discussing potential drawbacks like infrastructure strain or social isolation, to demonstrate a more balanced and comprehensive understanding of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'by this way' or 'due to this way', which are non-standard. The flow between sentences is sometimes interrupted by awkward phrasing, which prevents the essay from achieving a more sophisticated level of cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices and incorrect collocations, such as 'concise space covering' instead of 'optimise land use' and 'numerious people who lives' (subject-verb agreement error). While the meaning is clear, the range is limited, and the repetition of basic terms like 'big cities' and 'tall apartments' suggests a restricted vocabulary. You should aim to incorporate more academic collocations and synonyms to improve the quality of your expression.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('people who lives'), article usage ('a apartments blocks'), and awkward phrasing ('It is argue that'). While the meaning is usually understandable, the persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent the writing from being considered accurate. To improve, focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed with correct syntax.
