Student answer (Band 5.0)

The excellent way to offer enough houses in big town is to establish tall apartment blocks ,i strongly agree with this statement.my justification will be explain in upcoming passages.

initially ,to give enough houses in big cities because when student living in rural area then after it moves to big town for their education moreover student can easily get aparment in low budget .It also beneficial for students furthermore they can easiliy survive in apartment. secondly tall apartment buildings can provide houses for many people while using less land.

i believe that this solution is not always the best due to apartments are small and families may not survive in small space .when big family are living in apartments they are not adjusted in whole apartment .As a result increased owercrowding and limit space for living families.

In conclusion, i agree with this statement because affordable hosing for individuals and use less land area. however i diagree due to less living space for bigg

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 164 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the arguments are presented in a very brief, list-like manner without sufficient elaboration or relevant examples. While you state a position, the lack of depth means the task is only partially addressed. To improve, you must expand each body paragraph with specific examples, logical explanations, and a more thorough exploration of the consequences of your arguments. The conclusion is also incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, which further limits the overall task completion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'initially', 'secondly', and 'in conclusion', but these are often used mechanically or incorrectly. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak, with ideas jumping between points without clear logical progression. For example, the transition from student housing to the general benefits of tall buildings is abrupt. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the lack of a complete final sentence disrupts the flow of the conclusion. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea will enhance coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'big town', 'houses', and 'survive'. There are several instances of awkward word choice, such as 'establish tall apartment blocks' (instead of 'construct') and 'not adjusted in whole apartment' (which is unclear). Spelling errors, such as 'aparment', 'easiliy', 'owercrowding', and 'hosing', occur frequently. To reach a higher band, you need to use a wider range of vocabulary, including more precise academic collocations and synonyms, while ensuring accurate spelling and appropriate word choice for the context of urban planning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are often marred by grammatical errors. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage (e.g., 'in big town'), and sentence fragments (e.g., 'due to apartments are small'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capital letters at the start of sentences and incorrect comma usage. The grammatical control is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly. Focusing on basic sentence construction, correct verb tenses, and proper punctuation will help improve the accuracy and readability of your writing.
