Student answer (Band 5.0)
the statement said that the best way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks so in my opinion it is good idea to build apartments on a tall building but in our country it builds in large societies and there rent is also very high but the main issue is that a small family only live comfortable in apartments but the huge family is not because the apartment consist only 1 floor and it has only 3bedrooms 1kitchen and a lounch which we make a living room a large family cannot live comfortable in these type of apartments these type of family need a double story house with 4 to 5 bedrooms. In my opinion in large cities we need to build both the apartments and the double or triple story house but consist of some ratio a tall buldi8ng consist of 5 to 6 apartments and some old aged peoples and cjhildren cannot walk up on these large stairs and those familes who lived these type of apartments cannot make a family getharing because of space issue in apartments and also these families face privacy issues every one who lived these apartments noticed every person at which time they go out and many others issues e.t.c. They also face parking problems because they all live in 1 buildig and one building have the capacity of park only two to four cars and also 2 to 4 bikes and these vehicles are the main need of every family that is the other issue of apartments. So i prefer both houses and apartments in large cities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a preference for a mix of housing types. However, the development is limited. The arguments regarding family size, privacy, and parking are relevant but are presented as a list of complaints rather than a structured argument. The position is clear, but the ideas lack depth and academic support. The response tends to over-generalize, for example, assuming all tall buildings lack elevators or adequate parking. To improve, you should focus on developing two or three main points with clear explanations and examples, rather than listing many minor issues.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response lacks paragraphing, which is essential for a clear, logical structure. The entire essay is written as one long block of text, making it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. There is a lack of cohesive devices; sentences are often joined by 'and' or 'so', leading to a repetitive and mechanical flow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the discussion of family size and the discussion of parking is abrupt. To improve, you must organize your response into clear paragraphs (introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion) and use a wider variety of linking words.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'huge family', 'good idea', and 'many others issues' are simplistic and lack the precision required for an academic essay. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'it builds in large societies' (likely meaning 'they are built in large residential complexes'). The spelling of 'buldi8ng' and 'getharing' also indicates a need for more careful proofreading. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more sophisticated vocabulary related to urban planning and housing, such as 'high-density living', 'infrastructure', or 'accommodate'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response consists mostly of simple sentences with frequent grammatical errors. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and punctuation is almost entirely absent, which makes the text difficult to read. Common errors include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'a small family only live comfortable'), incorrect word forms (e.g., 'comfortable' instead of 'comfortably'), and run-on sentences. The lack of full stops and commas significantly impacts the clarity of your writing. To improve, focus on using a mix of simple and complex sentences and ensure you use correct punctuation to separate your ideas.
