Student answer (Band 6.0)
The most efficient way to provide roof over peoples head in larger urban areas is to build tall apartment blocks, i agree with this statement due to multiple reasons.
The primary advantage of tall apartment blocks is their ability to accommodate a high volume of residents on a relatively small footprint. Tall buildings holding multiple apartments in each floor are far more accesible for people who belong to middle class. It is also cheaper to get comparitively to one or two story individual homes, it builds community of similar people under one roof. Fore instance, if someone decides to move to a bigger city from rural area, they most probably will find apartments far more affordable, due to high cost of land in big cities. when families from different backgrounds live in one block or in their apartment in the same building, with time they build meaningfull, healthy relationship, leading it to better community building, trustworthy and safer enviorment. In most cases building vertically is the only way to provide homes in busy cities because, of contstant population increase.
While there are many benefits of apartment blocks, living in small concised space can also be overwhemling for many people. poor maintenance can lead to safety issues, and in extreme cases it can also become life threatening. For instance, majority of apartments have elevators due to having multiple floors, if they are not checked or maintained thime to time, it can get damaged and constant ignorance can lead this into harmful situation. However, these issues can be easily tackled, by properly planned buildings, active managment team, as well as architecture that incorporates green areas and recreational amenities.
In conclusion, constructing tall apartment block is the most viable strategy to meet the ever increasing demand of housing in modern metropolis cities. by optimizing limited urband space and keeping housing cost manageble, vertical development serves as the best solution for sustainable city growth.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in favor of tall apartment blocks. The ideas are relevant, focusing on space efficiency, affordability, and community building. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument about 'community building' is a bit generalized and could have been supported with more concrete examples or deeper analysis. The counter-argument regarding maintenance and safety is well-integrated, showing a balanced view. Overall, the response is clear and the position is maintained throughout, fitting the criteria for a Band 6.5 or 7.0. Given the slight lack of depth in supporting arguments, a 6.5 is appropriate.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'The primary advantage', 'For instance', 'While', and 'In conclusion' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, there are some minor issues with referencing and flow; for example, the transition between the benefits of community and the mention of population increase in the first body paragraph is slightly abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the progression of ideas is generally clear, justifying a Band 7.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'footprint', 'metropolis', 'sustainable', and 'recreational amenities'. There are some spelling errors ('accesible', 'comparitively', 'meaningfull', 'enviorment', 'overwhemling', 'thime', 'urband', 'manageble') and minor word choice inaccuracies ('roof over peoples head' instead of 'a roof over people's heads'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. The range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, but the frequency of spelling mistakes prevents a higher score. A Band 6.0 is appropriate here.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as punctuation issues (missing commas, incorrect comma splices), subject-verb agreement errors ('building... are far more accesible'), and prepositional errors ('in each floor' instead of 'on each floor'). While the meaning is always clear, the frequency of these errors is high enough to prevent a Band 7.0. The student shows an attempt at complex structures, but the control is inconsistent. Therefore, a Band 6.0 reflects the balance of successful complex structures and persistent minor errors.
