Student answer (Band 5.0)
In the modern era, individuals argued that the best decision is that to provide enough living space in large cities is to build tall apartments blocks. In this essay, I will discuss this statement and provide my own point of view.
On the one hand, give enough homes to the citizens in large cities. The main reason is that it is beneficial to the people. When they purchase their own house in cities so they no requirement to pay the rent to the owner of the house. Moreover, residence has their personal space to spend time with their family. For instant, I live in a house with my family so I have my private house and my own permission to how I decorate my private property. One another point is that a person do anything in their own house.
On the other hand, to build tall apartment blocks is not beneficial to the economy. The reason behind this is that it is harmful to the economy because cause the nose and air pollution when people construct the tall buildings. Furthermore, it also cause the problems to the nature such as earthquake when it comes then easily the tall buildings can destroy. For example, I am a person who want to look tall building and explore new things around the world. When I go in a new city by chance there happened a earthquake so I need to face this problem and my family is not with me.
In conclusion, I partially agree with the statement. Because it has a significant number of advantages and disadvantages which I mentioned above.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt, but the development of ideas is limited and often irrelevant. While you state a position, the arguments provided are not well-supported. For instance, the argument about 'purchasing a house' does not directly address the specific issue of 'tall apartment blocks' as a solution for urban housing. Furthermore, the second paragraph discusses the economy and earthquakes in a way that lacks logical depth or relevant evidence. To improve, ensure that every point directly supports your stance on high-rise buildings and provide more specific, logical explanations rather than personal anecdotes that do not clearly relate to the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often unclear. While you use some cohesive devices like 'On the one hand' and 'In conclusion', they are sometimes used mechanically or incorrectly. The transition between sentences is frequently disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow your logic. For example, the shift from discussing air pollution to the risk of earthquakes in the same paragraph lacks a smooth connection. To improve, focus on using linking words that show clear relationships between ideas and ensure each paragraph has a single, well-developed central theme.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'bad', and 'house'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'give enough homes' instead of 'providing adequate housing' and 'do anything in their own house' which is vague. Some phrases are unnatural, such as 'I am a person who want to look tall building'. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary to include more precise, academic terms related to urban planning and housing, and focus on using words in their correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There is a lack of grammatical control throughout the essay. You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'a person do anything'), article usage, and verb tense (e.g., 'individuals argued' instead of 'argue'). Many sentences are fragmented or contain awkward phrasing that makes them difficult to parse, such as 'When I go in a new city by chance there happened a earthquake'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subjects and verbs agree, and practicing the correct use of articles and prepositions. Attempting more complex structures before mastering these basics often leads to further errors.
