Student answer (Band 6.0)
The rapid growth of population all over world made a shortage of housing for them. Some people strongly believe that, in large cities the tall building is a best solution for enough homes for everyone however, i also agree with the statement because a tall building provide many blocks and obtain less land.
The main advantage of building tall apartment blocks is that they make efficient use of limited land. In large cities, land is usually expensive and scarce, so constructing houses over areas may not be practical. High rise buildings, on the other hand, can provide accommodation for hundreds of families on a relatively small piece of land. this can also help reduce urban expansion and preserve surroundings agriculture for nature. For example, cities like Mumbai have high rise residentials buildings because of their large population and limited available land .
However, relying entirely on tall buildings may create several problems. Overcrowded apartment complexes can place pressure on public facilities such as roads, schools, hospitals and public transport. Moreover, some people prefer houses with beautiful garden on it or more private space in it , which is difficult to provide in high rise buildings. therefore, governments should adopt a balanced concern by developing both apartment buildings and ow rise residential areas where land is available .
In conclusion, I agree that tall apartment blocks are one of the most effective ways to provide sufficient housing in large cities. However, they should be planned carefully and combined with public concern.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position and providing relevant arguments for both sides. The ideas are generally well-developed, such as the discussion on land efficiency and the potential strain on public infrastructure. However, the development is somewhat limited in depth; for instance, the point about 'public concern' in the conclusion is vague and not clearly linked to the previous arguments. The response covers all parts of the task, but the supporting examples, while relevant, could be more detailed to fully explore the implications of the argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the advantages and disadvantages. Cohesive devices such as 'The main advantage', 'on the other hand', and 'However' are used to guide the reader. However, there are some instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'combined with public concern' in the final sentence, which lacks a clear antecedent in the preceding text.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'urban expansion', 'accommodation', and 'residential areas'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'surroundings agriculture for nature' (should be 'surrounding agricultural land') and 'balanced concern' (which is not a standard collocation). The range is sufficient but lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the tall building', 'a best solution'), pluralization ('residentials buildings'), and prepositions ('garden on it'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capital letters at the start of sentences and unnecessary spaces before punctuation marks. These errors are noticeable but do not significantly impede communication.
