Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is true that to ensure living places to citizens in big urban areas is to build tall flat buildings.I find myself standing tall with the provided notion as it will provide employment, and also solve the problem of having everyone there own personal space. The provided notion will be discussed in the upcoming paragraphs.

To commence with, the first and foremost reason why I agree is that the planning of building apartments will help to labours to get employment during the construction period. This can reduce the poverty rate in a country.Apart from this, there will be no need for government to give money to workers for their food and shelter as construction of these tall buildings will ultimately results in employment. Also it will help to boost in economy of a nation if each worker will be employed.

Moving further, the principal point is that nowadays due to overpopulation there is cut throat competition among people for living places. Also this results in making houses costly which will challenging for middle class people to buy.In addition to this,if the government will make flats for people to live then then somehow the problem of housing will be decrease. Moreover,if the government provide the apartments to its citizens then, the authority can also generate some revenue by selling these flats which will help the government to motivate for constructing more flats for people.

To recapitulate it,the idea of building tall apartments of citizens is much more practical and logical when we see the crowd and area which is remained in this planet.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The argument regarding employment is a bit tenuous, as construction is temporary and does not necessarily solve long-term urban housing needs. The second paragraph touches on overpopulation and affordability, which is more relevant, but the points remain somewhat superficial. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or deeper analysis of the social and environmental implications of high-density living, rather than focusing on government revenue or temporary labor.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'To commence with', 'Moving further', 'In addition to this'). There are also issues with punctuation, specifically missing spaces after commas, which makes the text look cluttered and affects the flow. While the progression of ideas is generally followable, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the mechanical nature of the transitions limit the score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic terms like 'big urban areas', 'give money', and 'make flats'. There are some awkward collocations, such as 'standing tall with the provided notion' and 'the area which is remained in this planet'. To improve, you should aim to use more academic collocations and precise terminology related to urban planning, such as 'high-density housing', 'urban sprawl', or 'socio-economic benefits'. Spelling is generally accurate, but the range of vocabulary is limited.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('construction of these tall buildings will ultimately results'), missing articles ('boost in economy'), and awkward phrasing ('ensure living places to citizens'). Punctuation is a significant issue throughout the text, with many missing spaces after commas and periods. These errors occasionally make the reader pause, though they do not completely impede communication. Increasing the accuracy of complex structures and fixing basic punctuation will significantly improve your score.
