Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. However, the essay falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the development of ideas. While you provide relevant examples like China and Japan, the explanation of these points is somewhat superficial. The argument regarding economic benefits and infrastructure is present but lacks depth. To improve, ensure you fully develop each supporting point with more detailed analysis and reach the required word count to avoid a penalty. The position is consistent, but the overall task fulfillment is limited by the brevity and lack of comprehensive exploration.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'Altough' and 'On the other hand' used in contexts where they do not logically transition the ideas. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences feels disjointed at times. While there is an attempt at a logical progression, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the repetitive structure of the sentences hinder the overall coherence. Improving the variety and precision of your transition signals will significantly enhance the readability of your work.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'gigantic', 'formidable', and 'infrastructure' (implied). However, there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'economic friendly' instead of 'economically friendly' and 'fast less stressful' which is unclear. Spelling errors like 'contructions' and 'becaming' are also present. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your main points, the lack of precision and the presence of spelling mistakes limit your score. Focus on learning common collocations and proofreading for basic spelling errors to improve your lexical range and accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('population is... indicates', 'investors who brings'), incorrect verb forms ('is becaming', 'could be solve'), and punctuation errors. These errors are noticeable and occasionally impede the flow of the text. While you attempt complex sentences, they are often faulty. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and using articles and prepositions more accurately. Reducing the frequency of these errors is essential for a higher score.
