Student answer (Band 5.0)

The effective way to provide enough homes in large cities is to build tall apartment blocks can have positive outcomes and along with that negative outcomes also. This can organize the civilization block by block. The large infrastructure can hold numbers of family but can't give the peaceful environment.

In the growing population, the pollution has been significantly increase and also impacting the climate. I disagree the tall building all over the cities as there are many city and places in the nation to live but most of the people chose to live in the main cities and it naturally become crowed. For example, if there are number of people migrating then there will be less space to live along with that the polluted air and gas from the vehicles can be the major part of climate change.

In the present time due to the garbage waste, carbon gases warms the temperature and harms the earth eco-system. There should be some initiative to balance the population in different places. This helps people to feel the nature and give spaces and privacy. Moreover, the tall building apartment mostly have compact spaces or the price can be costly comparing to normal home in rural area. Most of the people chose to live in urban city because of the facility but in reality every beings should have quality life in peaceful area. The noise pollution, high traffics, emission of carbon gases, and waste have impact the overall health of people.

In conclusion, small home can be the better way and with no other tall buildings and high traffics in the area. This helps people to engage in different field like farming and focusing in physical health.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against tall apartment blocks. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention pollution and the need for population balance, the arguments lack depth and specific evidence. For instance, the claim that tall buildings cannot provide a 'peaceful environment' is asserted but not effectively supported with logical reasoning or concrete examples. The conclusion introduces new ideas about farming and physical health that were not previously discussed, which weakens the overall coherence of the argument. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on one main idea that is fully explained and supported with relevant examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover' and 'In conclusion', they are sometimes used mechanically or inappropriately. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt, and the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks logical flow. For example, the second paragraph jumps from population growth to pollution and then to migration without a clear link. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one will significantly enhance the readability of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'big', 'large', and 'good', which restricts your ability to express complex ideas precisely. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'organize the civilization' and 'every beings'. Some phrases are awkward, such as 'significantly increase' (should be 'increased') and 'impact the overall health' (should be 'impacted'). To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items and more accurate collocations related to urban planning and environmental issues.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'pollution has been significantly increase' and 'tall building apartment mostly have'. Additionally, there are errors in article usage and sentence structure, such as 'I disagree the tall building' (missing 'with') and 'most of the people chose to live' (should be 'choose'). While you attempt some complex sentences, they are often faulty. Focusing on basic sentence construction and ensuring correct verb tenses and prepositions will help improve your accuracy.
