Student answer (Band 6.0)
The rapid growth of urban population has created a serious demand for housing in large cities some people believe that the best solution is to construct the tall apartment blocks I largely agree with this view although i believe that high rise buildings should be developed alongside other housing solutions
One major advantage of building tall apartment blocks is that they can accommodate a large number of people on a relatively small area of land land in major cities is often exremely expensive and limited so constructing vertically is so efficient way to use availability space instead of building hundreds of separate houses across a large area a city can construct several high rise buildings and provide homes for thousands of residents further more apartments can be built close to public transport schools hospitals and shopping centres which can reduce commuting times and traffic congestion
however relying exclusively on high rise apartments can also create problems if these buildings are poorly planned they may become overcrowded and provide residents with limited access to green spaces in addition some families prefer houses because they offer greater privacy outdoor space and a more comfortable environment for children therefore governments should also develop affordable houses and well planned suburban communities where sufficient public facilities and transport links are available
In conclusion i agree that all apartment blocks are one of the most effective ways to provide sufficient ways to provide sufficient housing in densely populated cities because they make efficient use of limited land

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all parts of the task by clearly stating your position and providing relevant arguments for both sides of the issue. Your main argument regarding land efficiency is well-supported with logical points about infrastructure and proximity to services. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat brief. To reach a higher band, you could expand on your counter-argument by providing a more specific example of how poor planning in high-rise developments impacts social well-being. Your position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes your stance while acknowledging the complexity of the issue.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, with a distinct introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'further more', 'however', and 'in addition' to link your ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by a lack of punctuation, particularly in the introduction and the first body paragraph, which makes some sentences feel like run-on segments. Improving your use of commas and full stops would help the reader follow your arguments more smoothly. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the transition between the benefits and the drawbacks could be more sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'urban population', 'accommodate', 'infrastructure', and 'densely populated'. There are some minor errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'exremely' and 'all apartment blocks' (likely a typo for 'tall'). While you attempt to use some less common vocabulary, the range is somewhat limited. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and academic synonyms to enhance the sophistication of your writing. For example, instead of 'so efficient way', consider using 'a highly efficient method'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in punctuation and capitalization that detract from the overall quality. For instance, the lack of full stops between independent clauses creates run-on sentences, and there are missing articles and capitalization errors (e.g., 'i' instead of 'I'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to impact the fluency of the text. To achieve a higher band, focus on sentence boundary control and ensuring that complex sentences are punctuated correctly to maintain grammatical accuracy.
