Student answer (Band 5.5)
In developed cities, tall apartment blocks are constructed in order to provide enough accomodation to the people. I completely agree with this statement, because large cities are commercial and each part of it should be benificial.
To begin with, in large cities, the value of land is expensive and most of the people cannot afford it. So, tall apartments can accomodate a large number of individuals. Moreover, many people migrate to large cities, for education and in search of employment. And providing homes to every individual may not be possible. In this scenario, apartments play a crucial role. For instance, people come to city for education cannot afford an independent house because they have to manage the finance's. Therefore apartment plays a vital role here.
Moreover, government should implement plans to construct appartments, which are suitable for nuclear familes, joint families and bachelors. In addition, some facilities like garden, supermarkets and a gym can be included. Furthermore, every part of land is essential and it should be used effectively. Additionally, rather than building a large horizontal independent home. It is better to use additional land for other amenities such as parks, walking and cycling pathways. For instance, Singapore and Dubai have used this approach significantly. They have the taller buildings and they have utilised each part of the city beneficially.
In conclusion, construction of tall buildings ,in order to provide to accommodation, in large cities is the best way to deal with growing urban population. And I completely agree with this statement.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of tall apartment blocks. The ideas are relevant, focusing on land scarcity and the need for efficient urban planning. However, the development is somewhat limited; while the mention of Singapore and Dubai is a good attempt at providing examples, the explanation of why these cities are successful models remains superficial. The argument could be strengthened by exploring the social or economic implications of high-density living in more depth. Overall, the response covers all parts of the task, but the supporting arguments lack the depth required for a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, such as the abrupt transition in the second paragraph regarding student finances. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and some sentences are fragmented, which slightly disrupts the overall progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at using topic-specific vocabulary like 'urban population', 'amenities', and 'independent house'. However, there are several spelling errors ('accomodation', 'benificial', 'appartments', 'familes') and minor word-choice inaccuracies, such as 'finance's' (incorrect pluralization) and 'each part of it should be benificial'. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the message, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with punctuation and sentence boundaries. For example, 'Rather than building a large horizontal independent home. It is better to...' contains a sentence fragment. There are also errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'people come to city' and 'apartment plays a vital role'. These errors are noticeable but do not significantly impede communication. A wider range of error-free complex structures is needed to reach a higher band.
