Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent years, the population growth has been rapidly increasing all around the world. It is widely believed that this issue has significantly risen and is leading pressure on governments to address this problem. Some individuals suggest that building tower blocks in large cities is a beneficial step to tackle the housing shortage. I firmly agree with this perspective. In this essay we will discuss some reasons which support my opinion.
On the one hand, high-rise buildings occupy a small portion of land and provide numerous homes in a limited area. For instance, due to high population, limited land is available in urban areas. In addition, another benefit is that living in flats brings a variety of positive impacts. A friendly environment bridges the gap between citizens of distinct backgrounds or cultures. Especially in the technology-driven world where convenience from robots or social media makes face-to-face interaction less frequent, multi-story residential complexes reduce this lack.
Furthermore, more land can be reserved for essential facilities such as education, hospitals, malls and business development areas. This will improve the economic situation of a country. Moreover, high-rise blocks are frequently affordable and close to workplaces where public transport makes travel more convenient. It leads to better lifestyle and quality of life. For example, people understand each other, share daily routines with each other, and spend effective time which results an improvement in health and social life.
In conclusion, from my perspective, in urbanization, a substantial amount of houses are constructed, for more residents constructing tall apartments is an advantageous way. Country authorities should focus on this development for addressing this issue.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have clearly stated your position in the introduction and maintained it throughout the essay. The ideas presented, such as land efficiency and social interaction, are relevant to the prompt. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, while you mention that high-rise living bridges gaps between cultures, you do not explain how or why this happens in a convincing way. To achieve a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explained with a clear logical link back to the main argument. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and could be more impactful by summarizing the main benefits discussed rather than just restating the need for construction.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'In addition', and 'Furthermore' to guide the reader through your arguments. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition from discussing land use to social interaction in the second paragraph is slightly abrupt. Additionally, the referencing is generally clear, but the connection between the idea of 'robots' and 'face-to-face interaction' is a bit tenuous and distracts from the main point about housing. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and the progression of ideas is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'urbanization', 'residential complexes', and 'technology-driven'. However, there are some instances of imprecise word choice and collocation issues. For example, 'significantly risen' is not the most natural way to describe a population issue, and 'spend effective time' is an awkward collocation. You attempt to use some less common vocabulary, but it is not always used with complete precision. To improve, focus on learning collocations—words that naturally go together—rather than just individual synonyms. This will help your writing sound more natural and sophisticated.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally hinder the flow. For instance, 'is leading pressure' should be 'is putting pressure', and 'results an improvement' should be 'results in an improvement'. There are also minor issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, pay closer attention to verb patterns and prepositions, and proofread your work specifically for these types of small grammatical slips.
